How/when/where & what do you release? Who gets to decide?
It's tricky. I side with creators, in general. You don't need to have access to everything, and if it will hurt the people who made the game to have it out I'm not for it. They deserve a chance to try and make money with their work.

But, that said, there can be a little bit of crazy elitism. That 'who gets to decide' part can talk a big game about not hurting the commercial scene, but then quietly the insiders are running these latest cracked versions and getting that access other people don't have.

And they don't flaunt it, for the most part people keep it very quiet and as well they should. But still, if you're at all a part of one of those scenes you know what I'm talking about. There's a certain level of "haves" and "have nots".

Ultimately they're trying to not bring down heat on the hobby, and I get it. Not mad. And it's mostly about these modern titles that run on networks with DRM, the days of a PCB being dumped mattering are really behind us now.

it's still too new. if you look at when other CV1K games made their way into MAME it wasn't until they were 10+ years old and SDOJ hasn't hit that mark yet.
strictly speaking, MAME have not 10+ but only "3 years rule", then game considered OK/safe to be added.
however, this term might be extended by request, which is happened with CV1K games.

This is a red flag, people!

Why are all his sales posts being redacted? Hmm?
Seems extremely sketchy.
Thanks for restoring the threads @LinkArcade .

I want to retract my earlier statement.
I found out that Link is Yaton, or part of the Yaton crew. I've bought random parts from Yaton a few times in the past and he/they have always came through for me. I haven't experienced buying a full cab from Yaton, but for parts it's always been transparent and comms were good.

Are they also arcadefunny66 and arcadewen84 on ebay? I see some familiar images (said seller is trying to sell bootleg contra evolution PCBs on ebay)

edit: seems like they are

Hmmm....nice tidbit of info you found out then. If so, @LinkArcade speak up and say so. Related to/working with is meaningless to me/not the same as dealing with the actual person in transactions like this that are on a more personal level. Distinctions like these matter.

I thought Yaton came off ebay though because of the high fees? or was that all a ruse and he is now using pseudonyms'?

@LinkArcade If you still want to sell it, post up some decent high res pics of the entire board/different angles. List it as a conversion and ask what you want for it., could be a $1, $10,000, hell ask a $1M, it's up to the buyer to determine if they are willing to pay your asking price or they might make you an offer. There would be zero problems/issues if you were to do that from any of the members/staff here.

I will make you an offer of $1,250 for the PCB itself since it seems to be in working order and since I don't know what it used to be and what components were replaced on it, etc...I have no way to tell this unless you can prove what it was, have records of the purchase/arts, etc.. and of course based on the current market value for these game PCBs. Others might offer you way more than that or maybe less. To me, that's what it's worth at this point.

Good luck with whatever you do. But please don't try to sell it off as an original to someone/somewhere else. In the long run, it only makes it worse for everyone in this hobby for multiple reasons.

Not that I want to disrupt this thread, but...
It's great that you say that, I was not 100% sure of the rules. But as you confirmed them, I hope that you will put a clear price on the arcade cabinets you listed for sale then. As I have been looking at that thread and did not understand why it was still listed because of that reason.

If you have to preface a post with this, you should reply in the for sale thread you have an issue with. We don't have rules against taking offers.
As I understand the rules, all it says is to list the sales price if in fact it sold on here.
@Mackie my comment had more to do with the fact that it would be ok to sell conversions/bootlegs as long as they are advertised as such.

Here are the rules, pinned to the top of this forum https://www.arcade-projects.com/threads/rules-for-using-the-arcade-projects-sales-forums.2/

This is what I actually did.

I was just surprised that it was mentioned here that a seller have to put a price (which I actually find normal personally, but I understand it subject to interpretation) by the same person that actually did not.

thanks for the clarification.

When did I say @LinkArcade had to put a price???? I said he could list it at whatever price he wanted, as long as he identified the board as a conversion, which is what it was and he was not "aware" it was. He had already put a price for the board originally of $6800 I think, no one told him he had to, he was told to put the price he SOLD it at cause he did sell it here. So I dont understand what you are after???

Anywho, here are the rules for your convenience, highlighted the ones I think you should focus on:

You are allowed to sell whatever you like here that is arcade related. We ask you to adhere to a few simple yet important rules:

Rule 1: B
egin the subject of your sale thread with a suffix. For example, if you are simply selling an item you should use the suffix 'For Sale:' or 'FS:'

Rule 2: You can sell bootlegs but they MUST be clearly identified as such. Preferably in the subject line of your thread. Pictures will help prevent any issues also.

Rule 3: You cannot list an item as untested unless it actually is untested. It is expected that you will list non-working parts as such.

Rule 4: We ask that you do not resell one of the Darksoft or Walsdawg products here while they are still in production or available. This applies to products we design not products we may resell.

Rule 5: We ask that once an item has been sold that you leave the price so that people may refer to it in the future. If you keep a running thread simply list it in the first post somewhere. Example: Neo-Geo cart-----sold! $25. We also ask for you to update the original post with the final sold price. If you tried to sell for $25 but ended up selling for $20, it should go like this: $25 $20. Each user is expected to do this and it can only benefit everyone.

Rule 6: We will not tolerate members poisoning another member's sales thread. This includes 'price policing' which brings us to:

Rule 7: It is the responsibility of the buyer to research and be knowledgeable of the going rate for any particular item. If you are unsure do a 'price check' to gain opinions from other members.

Rule 8: You must always represent your items for sale in a truthful, honest, and non-deceptive fashion. This includes item condition, taking care to mention any obvious blemishes that the buyer might find undesirable.

Rule 9: If a buyer feels they have been scammed or they are unable to amicably resolve a disagreement with the other party a MOD may be assigned to act as a mediator. In this case the decision of the MOD is final.

Rule 10: You cannot sell anything illegal to ship through the mail. This includes but is not limited to drugs, alcohol, firearms, human or animal remains, etc.

Rule 11: Failure to adhere to these simple rules can result in loss of sale forum privileges or banishment from the site altogether.

Rule 12: Anyone who uses the sales or wanted forums must at least have their general location listed in their profile. A post asking for your location is a waste of time.

In order to allow members to get an idea of the type of seller you are you may want to include your eBay seller ID so that other members may feel more comfortable doing business with you.

It might be my limited proficiency in english and I’m sorry if this is the case.

But when I read that “and ask what you want for it., could be a $1, $10,000, hell ask a $1M...”

That means for me “put a price”.

But I might be wrong and sorry if I misunderstood it.

Well he did come down from 6800 to 5500 so there might be some wiggle room here..

The original price he listed it at is in the above quote, please read through the thread entirely.
This is why he was asked to restore the contents of his posts, not just here but on other sales threads he had. He went on panic mode and deleted a lot of his other sales posts, which further adds suspicion to his character. So again he was asked to restore the information he deleted and I told him there is no problem listing the conversion for sale at whatever price he wanted.

Hope that clarifies things to your satisfaction and made the rules clear for you, even if you dont agree with them.

Yes I find strange that a sell topic does not have a price. But that’s another discussion as it is not in the rules.

And yes I agree with what was said on this thread to put back the information. And some behaviors associated to these sale threads were strange to say the least.

But glad it was resolved.

So, Yaton, any chance we can get an explanation as to why you tried to take Bill D for $20,000+? I’d love to see an answer to this. Maybe if Link can’t answer it we could get some input from Jason, Jay, Singh or Wen. You know, all the other aliases you go by.

"ok gang, time to see who this dodgy seller REALLY is!"

Everyone: *gasp* "Old-man Yaton! AGAIN!?"

Tune in next time on Arcade Projects dot com to see who the NEXT monster will be! (I wonder)

Does anyone make repros of that Yaton Arcade Game marquee? If I ever get a NNC, that’s going to be the marquee.
