FS Egret 2/Windy 2/NNC/Q25 (Repair refund)

For Sale
EDIT: Answers while I was typing.

Also, is that monitor correct? How can one that old, and sent to China not have any burn?
Of the handful I've seen come in from the group buy, none had burn at all.

If the monitor sits flush against the bezel, which it looks like it does, it's almost certainly the right monitor. It has an obnoxiously specific tube curvature.

In doing so, he vacuum formed new bezels. Anyone interested in exploring this?
He retrofitted a single E3, but didn't vacuum form anything, just filled and sanded until it was right. He suggested it would be a good way of doing it moving forward.

If someone did make E2 or E3/AWSD bezels for a 27" 16:9 LCD monitor, I'd be interested in a couple.

The original post showed a much more well formed bezel. Think some pics and stuff got removed when the thread was moved around.

So, I passed my one from the group sale to 8bitforlife, I'm wondering if this one eBay is in the same ballpark both price wise and condition wise. Also, how often do these come up? I'm moving back to the mainland in 6 months and would rather wait until then to grab one, but if they are as rare as people are making them out to be, maybe I should jump on this one?

To be clear, I'm looking for an Egret 2 for the easy rotate option...

It's very well formed. And it was done by hand. I spoke with Monouchi about quite a few things in PM for a while back then. His site used to have pictures of the entire process, but it's now defunct.

They're not really rare in any sense. Just that owners don't usually sell them once they get one, so you don't see them pop up too often anymore. Probably 2-3 pop up a year from private sellers on forums and the like. They run 16-1800 nowadays usually. KC got two last year and they went for 2k each IIRC.

Thanks for the info. I guess it doesn't matter, he messaged me and said not to shipping here for some reason.

I'd rather wait I guess and get one in good shape on the mainland.

Someone already took the chance on it. I wish nothing but the best to whoever bought that cab...

if your talking about Yanton his listing says hrlell ship but its like 600 or something
Yeah but he told me no shipping to HI for some reason. I followed up about it, but someone bought it already. It's ok, if these aren't rare, I'd rather wait until I get to the mainland and get a good condition one. Based on this guys last few items sold on here, it's not looking good...

Same knock-off, rusted through panel. Lots and lots of yellow paint on that guy. At least it shows it working!

Cab and shipping to port through eBay is only a few bucks more than what we paid in the group buy.. But with eBay's money back guarantee. Unless port fees are astronomical, I'd imagine it's hard to go wrong here.
Shipping to Australia was $600 USD, plus the government would tax a further 10% on everything (including the shipping cost), plus there'd most likely be some fumigation fees and port clearance fees.

I'd probably be looking at a solid $1800-2000 gamble. Reckon I'd have better luck at the casino if I had the money, or even gambled for that matter. I don't have the room really, it was one of those spontaneous impulisive brain farts to buy something which would have put myself in debt... I guess that's part of the hobby isn't it ;)

It absolutely is.

The listing said $350 to ship up top for some reason, but then said $550 in the description, so it wasn't the same price as the group buy for US folks anyway. Just to fix my earlier mistake.

Edit
People with non functional cab send me a pm with a topic with your name and refund.
Give me a breakdown of your cost so far.

Communication with Yaton has been long and slow. He said he would refund some money back, but have yet to give me an amount. I have given him the updated list as of late. Montreal order is not looking good, and I have yet to fully test all of mine. These are the option I am giving to people, You can decide what you want to do. This has been a learning experience to all and defiantly going to change how I do things.

  • Working out the numbers I can give up to 88.48 USD per cab depending on fault (- what every fee paypal will charge me) to E2, Windy, and Domy. NNC for the most part in the US shipment any seem good. The Q25, @rewrite you said you would have paid more so your fine right ^-^ but seriously if anything major come up, let me know. This will be more for psu, chassis, and I/O. If Yaton does give me some kind of refund, don't hold your breath on this. I will like to pay myself back some and will divvy the rest. I still owe him some money so this is were some of this is coming from the rest is from a few cabs. I am still waiting for some balance to be paid off so refunds wont be going out until those are paid
  • Now if we want to have some fun with this I was going to raffle off a partial international mushihime-sama black label (missing the cardboard insert for the pcb, I think one of the plastic bag, and maybe one of the paper?) to the US and Vancouver E2, Windy, Domy, and Q25 people. Sorry NNC you will have an option to buy in. This all will depend on who want refunds and if its worth it for me. I'm not going to do it if only 10 people/cab want in I rather just pay out. The 3 people who bought E2 from me so far will also get a number in this. I am taking myself out of this raffle. This will leave me 4 extra number for 3 Windy and 1 Q25. I'm thinking 50.00 if you want 1 of the extra number.
  • This goes back to Yaton. He said he will send replacement parts, if he has them. If you want to go with this option let me know. I'm expecting a long lead time on this as he is moving shop and I'm sure the other container buyers are just flooding his email.

No cash refund needed for me for:
  • Egret II
  • Sega NNC
Potential parts replacement/refund needed for
  • Windy II
    • I/O board
      • Will try to recap this to get it going
    • Possibly chassis
      • Will take a stab at capping it to see if it resolves the problem
Do you need anyone to keep track of this for you @XeD?

EDIT: FYI, if caps fix the I/O or chassis on the Windy II, no need for any refund. Also, Egret II had a faulty PSU. But I don't need any compensation for that either. And thanks again XeD. You did us a huge solid.

I have it on the spreadsheet. It be nice if everyone can look it over to confirm. Some time I just skim the post so I may miss so items

The Q25, @rewrite you said you would have paid more so your fine right
And you said all the cabs were tested and working, didn't you?

I'm going to be one of those people who "won't be satisfied" with 2 of 3 answers. I (like just about everyone else) was sold a "tested working" cabinet. I expect that I will have a working cabinet at the end of it. Not $88, not an entry ticket in a raffle for an item, not a full refund, not a replacement cab, not compensated for my troubles, I only expect a working cabinet. Nothing more, nothing less. Whether that's repair costs covered or working replacement parts sent. Because that's what I paid for. It's what I was sold.

In good faith I have done my best to repair 4/5 of the cabinets I picked up in this deal, and with the help of @radiantsvgun 2 of those are up and running at zero cost to you (even though it was your responsibility as the seller, not mine or radiant's). Like radiant I have literally given away my own spare parts in order to get another member's cab up and running (which again, ultimately saved you money). Sure, it didn't fully solve the problem, the Windy PSU is still dead, but now it's only the PSU instead of the PSU AND the monitor that you have to deal with.

I could have just plugged them in and when they didn't turn on say "So what are you going to do about it?" and done nothing more. Or contacted PayPal directly and never said anything to you at all. Instead, in good faith, I put in my time and parts because I was thankful that you said you were going to do the right thing and ensure everything was dealt with "in the new year". So I figured I'd meet you halfway and see if I could minimize your list of issues to take care of.

I agree with your earlier statement that you got in over your head. That sucks. I feel for you. But ultimately that's not the buyers' fault. You sold them "tested and working" cabs, and that's what they should end up with.

I'm still waiting for my Windy II but to be honest I was expecting a project cab in the first place. These cabs sat in a warehouse for who-knows-how-long in China. I've never even seen a windy II for sale in the US and if I did I would expect somebody to be asking 1600 to $2,000 at least for one. So 1000 for a project cab working or not I don't think it's that big of a deal for me. Thank you for the opportunity to get my dream cab.
If yaton is willing to offer any partial refunds for anything I would take that opportunity but I'm not going to hold XeD responsible if I have issues. I think a lot of people put their expectations too high in this order and that is a common mistake in most group orders.
