FS Egret 2/Windy 2/NNC/Q25 (Repair refund)

For Sale
The Egret 2 is also working well. It has a very nice picture on the monitor. It needs all new controls and for some reason the joysticks are wired 100% backwards. This one just needs a lot of cosmetic work. It also needs a new pcb mounting board. If anyone else is having one cut get another one done and I'll pay you for it. ;)
My E2 has the same joystick controls issue, left on the joystick corresponds to up over JAMMA.

I suspect the reason is the repro CP only has mounts that fit the joystick one direction, so you can't rotate the stick so the directions are correct.

On mine the CP harness seems to have been hacked/spliced too, so I guess that could be why if it isn't the above reason.

I picked up a new CP harness from @Lemony Vengeance and will install the new harness and fresh buttons + sticks when my Alberto panel arrives.

I also need a mounting board cut for my Egret II, though it is not from the group order. If anyone can do that, I'd also be much appreciative!

My Egret was "wired" backward as you guys say. Down= up etc. Just remove the gate and rotate microswitch board around then perfect. Easy peasy all mine was.

I have a few questions regarding Q-Sound. The sound works fine from JAMMA but the Q Sound amp is installed and the RCA plugs to plug into the pcb are present. Do you need to switch between JAMMA audio and Q-Sound somehow? There is a connector labeled Q-Sound on the service panel below the volume buttons. What is this used for?
[align=center]You are close. In the image below I just mocked up everything. If you want to use QSound which is via RCA only, move the connector from the JAMMA Sound to the QSound Plug. Vice Versa going from QSound back to JAMMA.
CPS3 Mobos aren't BGS so you have to use the Pot on the CPS3 board itself to adjust the volume.
As always any CPS2 or CPS3 game remember to go into the settings and change the sound to: QSound.
If you ever connect back into a non-QSound cab, if you have no sound, it saved the setting so you have to switch it back.
Edit: I also switch between QSound and JAMMA Sound powered off. I'm changing a PCB out anyway.

good chance buttons and sticks were just thrown on the cabs. It's not uncommon for me to have to rotate sticks when I move panels from one cab to another

My Windy II chassis is at PnL Video. Might have different results even if the flyback is dead. Will update you guys in about a week.
So PnL Video got back to me and told me that my Windy II Chassis has a flyback issue. No replacement can be sourced. Dead in the water unforunately.

I think I have a back up solution in that I have some some Wagnam Maximum Tune 2 & 3 cabs that I can pull monitors from. Not all is lost. Will just sit on the Toshiba PB7534 chassis until a stash of flybacks pop up somewhere.

Not sounding good for my case either, but I think I'll probably finally eat the shipping costs and send mine off to Sharp or PNL just to verify it's the flyback on mine too. :-/

Your's too? This is at least 3 down so far.

I have attempted easy drop-in tube swaps with probably around 15 Toshiba TVs with the correct curvature and screen size, and never once found a compatible yoke. I got some partial success with yoke swapping, but getting the corner purity perfect was always just out of reach. Magnets do not really help, because the second the tube is turned to face another direction, the problems simply move.

Man that suck. Not the kind of news I was hoping for. We are at the count of 3 bad flynack now? Can the flyback be swap out from another chassis?

Did PnL video charge you a diagnostic fee to look at it? If so, how much?

I just got off the phone with Sharp and they said if its unrepairable they charge $65 for the diagnosis.

I'll probably still send mine off to them this weekend, but curious how PNL's pricing compares.

Yeah, its 65 from sharp. They at least change and repair what they can with that.

I'll pull the flyback when it comes back from PnL. See if I can dig up a part number printed on it somewhere and post what I find here. Then we can scour the Earth until we find some. If we are lucky, it was commonly used in a popular consumer TV. If not, we will just need to await a barnyard find of flybacks. Barring this, the only options are:
  • Buy replacement "tested" "working" chassis from Yaton (in other words, play Russian roulette)
  • Swap chassis from another donor monitor
  • Full on monitor swap
I'm going with a full on monitor swap. Will cut masking if the bezels don't match the curve. Will make it work.

Diagnostic fee is $30 at PnL.

So, what are some consumer model sets made around this time by Toshiba? Are there any more numbers on the outside of the flyback?
I'd think if it were a flyback on common consumer TV models then PNL and Sharp would have a ton of them laying around.
