Hey guys,

I have the chance to get a Ferrari F355 challenge single module cabinet. I've never own a racing cab so I have some very basic questions if you can be patience and bare with me.

- are Naomi's inside regular Naomi's or multi Naomi's? If latter, can be replaced with regular Naomi's? I read these run the game at lower speed? Can you run netdimm connected to the multi board?
- is it difficult to source and install a 6 way shifter to run alternatively to paddle shifts on F355 ?
- are these cabs good for trying to build a universal racing machine? Would probably want to run Daytona's, Sega Rally's hardware or head to PC solution.

Thanks in advance

Anyone with f355 cabs:

Selecting simulator mode depends on specific deluxe rom board or the standard rom board can potentially use simulator mode if connecting a shifter to the cab?

is there anything special with DX shifter or is it possible to connect for example a need for a speed 6-way shifter? I've read that many f355 dx cabs opted to disconnect the clutch system towards the shifter.

Any thoughts appreciated!

F355 multi board
Is 2 normal Naomi’s joined together.
If a problem occurs with one Naomi, you take another from a white case and put it in the stack.

The vga out etc only comes out of one board (as you don’t need 2 outputs)

This board is picky with what type of Naomi board (there is more than 1 type)

So what I have done in the past, is put a remaining working board in this particular position in the stack. (Remember to put old bios rom on replacement board)

Some normal cases white Naomi’s do have the correct board installed. It’s just pot luck or asking a seller for photos

I also have all the cabs you want to play in this.
So have some info…

Using model 2or3 stacks in f355 isn’t easy, total different wiring and setup. Nothing is impossible but I’d avoid it.

If you talking emulation? You would need some complex things doing with the ffb… which I haven’t had my eyes on the progress but more and more happening in this scene and someone else may have more info.

But some advice from me…
If you’re not a purist, and want a cab to play these games. Then as someone who owns a lot of racing arcades and a sim rig…

I advise to consider a sim rig…
F355 is a good cab in my collection, but you sound serious wanting h shifter etc, and the game is terriable compared to even grannturismo, forza etc. the ffb is rubbish in this game too. The throw distance of pedals is poor. It’s good only compared crapper racing arcades.

If you got a sim rig you could emulate all arcade titles and also link consoles or pc. Have really good pedals etc and upgrade running gear and drive gear as you progress.

You can end up with pedals that are a million miles apart from arcade ones.
Ffb direct drive that is 20 times more real and powerful and add things like motion.
H shifters are £20 to £1500 same for pedals and wheelbase.

lastly these sega cabs aren’t very comfortable and the seats don’t go back that far, they are cramped.

I own them for 1 reason only- I’m filling a dream from 1995 when I was 13. That buzz is amazing, I. Love owning them but for serious driving - sim pc will keep you busy all night, night after night.

Hey thanks for replying and sharing insights and your personal thoughts, very useful information for me at the time.

I'll have this in mind if anything goes wrong.

I was thinking maybe go emulation, a PC setup. I'm looking at these Gamoover hard/soft tools right now but have to spend some time digesting all info for the best scenario for my needs.

That's a powerful reason for all of us in the hobby and often drives us more than other logical routes!

And just to share…. My racing cabs
With like minded people.
I’ve just grabbed photos from my library it is same cabs moving about!! Not 20 of the same thing🤪

I need to look into this.. cheers

I’m happy with collection, cheers, also got many non racers too… and have recently moved premises, had first child just turning one, and another on the way, and got a new factory to build and a business to maintain…and expand
So all a bit overwhelming, but in this game you have to learn when to shut the door and forget about them at times, which has happened for past year.

Last night I had first evening in ages playing Virtua fighter 1, Star Wars trilogy, namco rockin bowl o Rama and NARC.
Was brilliant and got me excited again, so much so I started browsing the forum again and showing the interest.

Back to your dilemma, wanting multi cab, 6 speed shifter etc…

I’ll be taking a look at mine but within months not days.
Had a whole rigmarole with electric meter installation and it’s been 14 months no power and only got it on 2 weeks ago. Hobby been on hold apart from a few at home and some in a different office mentioned above.

But if I get them before you get answers I’ll check what info is in the test menu.

Maybe worth loading On a Pc and checking out the settings… regarding clutch and h shifter.
