Free Custom Acrylic Case Plans for PCBs

Great project.

I've had my KI2 board in one of these for 6 months, and just noticed the middle of the board is sagging. Without center support, it probably needs to be stored on its side. (I also realized I have the fan pointing the wrong way.)

All PCBs apart from those with centre supports like MVS 4/6 slot boards need to be stored on their side or they will end up sagging

Especially large boards like KI, Midway Wolf Unit etc where almost all the components are SMD since the sag will cause components to lift

I wonder if you could 3D print or get an acrylic centre support, maybe a 4-5cm round cylinder that could be glued in the centre of the bottom plexi?

There's an idea. I have standoffs. Just need to find a spot where it can go without damaging any components.

That’s why I was thinking a 3D printed or acrylic one would be better - no concerns of shorting out components as you would have with a metal standoff

If there are chip legs in the area they will just sit on the plastic and you might get a slight lift which is going to be imperceptible spread across the board

New member here, I just wondered if anyone state side found a online company to cut these , I found one place but it was like $180 for one which seemed like a lot of money?

This is what mine shows.... the acrylic line is different - yours says modified, and mine I think is thicker? It's also possible that in the last 4 years prices have gone up... :/

Thank you , does anyone know if the OP is still here, I sent him a message , I found an online company that will do 2 for around the same price as above but I dont know how to edit the files, I don't need two sunset riders cases but if I can edit the sunset riders part out of the file I can use it for I think Turtles as well. Anyone?

Sorry I meant to reply to this thread, I did get a test done via ponoko at the start of the year for my Turtles PCB and it cost about $85 plus shipping, I used 4.5mm acrylic and went with the reverse so the design was on the inside as I was worried I would scratch it. I would like to do one for my Wrestlefest board but I can't find a good transparent logo to put on it, chatgpt keeps shitting the bed when I try using it for one comes up looking like something from Temu. Anyone help please?

Anyone have a list of the hardware they used on their Killer Instinct case?

Thanks

I don’t have the exact sizes as I bought a kit with a bunch of different standoffs in it but I can take some measurements of the parts I used

The standoffs on the bottom are the same size as standoffs used on PC motherboards, turned around with nylon screws in the bottom to hold in place

The ones between there and the top plexi are I think 70mm but I’ll double check

For the fan I used the same Sunon that is often used as a replacement on CPS2

6 - M3 x 10mm (if you're installing the dual kit with my 3D print, then M3 x 15mm making sure the post diameter is 5mm or less)
6 - M3 x 40mm
4 - M4 screws for the fan mount. Length will depend on your fan. I used M4 locknuts to hold mine.
some nylon washers as well. I think I only used 6; might be 12 for top and bottom of PCB between posts.

@raynex
Could you post some pics from all sides of your KI setup with the arcylic case

These are the ones I already have. If there is an angle missing from this that you need, let me know.
