I posted a thread detailing my attempt at homemade holo labels. With some experimentation, you can definitely pull it off perfectly I think.

The key is that semi-transparent grey layer behind the text, with a burned/dodged SNK banner. That causes the main black text layer to "float" in 3D when viewed in-person. I can share my templates if you would like to use them.
