Most of the USA has State Sales tax and then in some cities there is another tax on top of that. Even still it's usually less than half of what most of you guys have without VAT.I'm jealous of the idea of living in a no value-added-taxes country..
Our tax is also listed as a separate charge from the item price so it's very easy to see how much tax you're paying.
We also have income tax and property tax.
I'm in New Hampshire personally, one of the few states without any sales tax...

You could also move to Alaska which actually pays it's residents! The state makes enough money through oil and mineral extraction that if you're a resident you get a check from the government every year.
