Hey guys,

So i have a Naomi 1 with Multi Bios and can play original Cartrdige Games without Problems.

So i think my Naomi are fine.

Now i bought a netdimm for less money, untested. I have a GDRom Drive with some original Games, a security key from ebay but some original Keys too. I got a raspberry with wipi on it but i think the netdimm is broke.

I cant get network settings when i jumper for netboot. I got no picture when i put the scsi cable on the netdimm.

So, what i can i do? Exist an option to reset the netdimm?

And at first, hello guys!! Im new here! :-P

I have some other questions too what are the 4 led up for? The 4 led on the upper pcb.
Then, what are the jumper up for on the low pcb?

When i jumper to netboot and get to the test Menu, i see no network options but a line calls "unknown game" ... Its making me crazy xF

I cant do anything without network settings or?

When you say you get no picture, you mean you turn it on and nothing happens?

Perhaps you have the same issue I did when moving to cartridge to netdimm - while cartridges boot up almost instantaneously, the netdimm takes about 30seconds to boot up - so have you turned it on, and just waited a minute?

Matt

Yeah, i waiting some minutes cause i put it on, and reading some things, switch some things, put it on again and reading some thing, and so on....

So i only got no picture when the scsi cable is connected to netdimm. If i eject this cable, i got a picture then after 30seconds. The boot logo and the error code "01 this Game is not acceptable by main board"

So i had this error code when i tried to play from cartridge the first time. I have no screws to fix the netdimm or the cartridges so i think maybe i cant fix the netdimm correctly...maybe....

So on the netdimm is a sticker with "dimm firmware 3.03" ...

The gd rom power is on, but the disk are not running...
And i can see, when i put the scsi cable in, the usb adapter is blinking alsways, so i think that the Naomi not start correctly when the scsi cable is connected to netdimm. Cause normally the adapter led going to off after 10 seconds, then after 15-20 seconds the boot logo will come and the error code...

Btw, is correct that i only need one connection on 5volt, one connection at 12v and both connections on gnd cable for gd rom drive?

Your Gdrom is bad. I get the same blank screen if I plug the scsi cable on one of my initial D.

Unfortunately, untested is often just code word for it being broken.

Look for dimm board test in the service menu. If there's no option for one, the motherboard can't detect the dimm board and it usually means that the dimm board is faulty.

What BIOS do you have? Check the code on the BIOS chip underneath the cart (epr-2157xx). It would have to be really old for it not to work with a DIMM, but best to check. It has to be revision E or higher.

Also, measure voltages and adjust if needed. 3.3V will often drop with a netdimm if you've adjusted prior for regular carts.

Ok, maybe i have then more then one problem.

At first, what do you think is the issue from gd drive? Is the 5v, 12v, gnd, gnd power connection right? It comes from a IDE PC Power Supply..

Then, i dont have the dimmboard options in this tes Menü.
So maybe its the connection between the both netdimm platines?

My naomi have a multi bios. Do you mean this bios or?
Can i check the real netdimm version except the sticker which is on the top? It says 3.03.

Naomi beginner woes !🥲

Start at power
Naomi & net dimm needs more power than A Naomi with a cart .

ATX psu Naomi 450 watt ok 😎

ATX psu Naomi + net dimm 600 watt 😎

NOT ide. ATX psu ( computer power supplies )
Which are only 350 watts to 450watts that work for Naomi with cart BUT DONT work with net dimm inserted.

For Naomi with net dimm I have found that it needs at least 500 watt preferably a 650watt and a good brand is recommend for obvious reasons ( I use Corsair psu )

Your Naomi may still power up but net dimm isn’t getting enough power ..

This is the first thing you need to check .

Unfortunately if you do not have a good known set up you don’t have a psu for comparison. But a 600 watt
I have a 550 watt that works for me too

I have the Power for gd rom cappt from a ide power kabel from a atx psu :)

So ok, but not 650 watt. If you think, that is my issue, i will buy a used psu then.

I dont knew that the netdimm need the same power like a standalone naomi xD

So dont kill me, but its a 350watt psu.

Im a SEGA fan with alot of old stuff, most of original stuff and normally i know what im doing, so xD Idk, dont hate me now xF

I bought a 650 psu now directly

IDE wire ? 0.3mm at best For 12v. 🥴

Awg 6.

12v on ide not good my friend 🥵

Your new psu …
Just use some of the spare 12v, 5v & ground 👍😎
I hope you find success …

So what do you thinking?

Is it correct that i have 12v und 1 pin, 5volt on 3 pin, gnd on 5 and 6 pin (from right to left?)

Saw pictures and texts who tell me that.

So i need srews to fix this Netdimm correctly, anybody have some screws for some €, $ or Rupiens i idk xD

I will go to a shop for hardware and buy some M3 x 30mm and M3 x 70mm screws and then i will fixed it right. I know that the connectors some kind of the same connectors from Dreamcast. And they are very sensible. And i had the issue when i put the first time my virtua tennis 2 cartridge into this naomi, so. Check some next things.

Question again. The network IP standard is what?

I have a multimeter, what are you think i have to check?

Good lord, Naomi does not need a 650W PSU. This is just bad advice.

https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/PCB_Power_Consumption

Under 20W for Naomi with netdimm. The GDROM drive is maybe 25W. That's less than 50W for both.

The money you used for the PSU should have gone towards a multimeter.
If it’s not the watts then is it the amps ?

I have 350watt ATX psu’s that will drive Naomi but not Naomi with net dimms ?

I asked my self why the Dreamcast, which is naomis daughter pcb, need only 60watt maximum, but naomi need 600?
