I just got my hands on a Big Red cabinet and want to start playing it ASAP. The only problem is that the four slot needs some work such a recapping, leaked capacitor cleanup and a serious deep cleaning.

The downside is I got a bunch of projects that take precedence over this. Luckily for me however, I have a perfectly functional MV-1C I refurbished recently and a mistercade just waiting for somewhere to go.

How hard would it be to replace the four slot with the MV-1C, so I can play some MiSTer FPGA on the cab? Any advice would be most welcome, as most of my hardware experience comes from modding handhelds and home consoles.

Thank you in advance for any pointers or advice.

You will want an MVS to JAMMA adapter such as the JNX Big Red. Your Big Red wiring and the 4 slot are not exactly JAMMA so to avoid any damage to the a JAMMA board, get an adapter.

You will not be able to connect any of the following to an MV-1C, the Memory Card/Headphone board, EL panels, or Credit LEDs.

It looks like the website that sells them is sold out, but I will shoot them an email to see if they got any more JNX Big Reds on the way. Thanks!
