CPS2 Metal Protective Case/Enclosure.

The Capcom Play System 2, also known as the CPS2, is an incredibly popular arcade platform amongst arcade hobbyists. With the Darksoft MultiKit, real arcade hardware use at home and in tournaments has never been easier. I designed the first CPS2 case years ago to solve a need I had, to put my multikit in a nice complete case. The design was simple, clean, and offered an easy way to protect your hardware. In 2021 and 2022, I made some updates to the case to include:

- D size cutout to support an HDMI passthrough
- 2x 12mm button for the DigitalAV controls.
- Refined bottom mounting points using metric fasteners and a slightly altered layout due to some fitment issues identified. (I bought a second CPS2 A board to measure and averaged the two I have to finalize the mounting points).
- New rear cutout around the JAMMA edge to provide more protection.

Case Details:
  • Cold Rolled Steel, powder coated finish.
  • All graphics are digitally printed direct to the case. No stickers!
  • Supports the DigitalAV with HDMI port and 2x 12mm Button Cutouts.
  • Support fan mounting to promote airflow.
  • Requires you to modify the MultiKit screen with a right angle pin header for the IDC cable. This ensure the cable and such remains inside the case and not exposed.
  • Access to JAMMA Edge, Audio Output, and Kick Harness.
  • Rubber feet on the bottom.
  • Simple two piece design.
What you will receive: CPS2 Case with basic assembly hardware.

A number of new cases have shipped to customers and are or will be arriving soon. Please check your order history page under MY ACCOUNT for tracking info! I still have more tracking #s to put in over the next day or two. I would love to see pictures of your completed builds!

Just a reminder, the next batch of CPS2 cases that were ordered closed on 15 December. They should ship out just after the new year due to all the holidays and time off and stuff. Happy Holidays!

If anyone wants a CPS2 Case blue/black for a discount, I have one that has a slight scuff on it (rather unnoticeable but not to my standards for new) available. $30 off - use the code BLEMISHEDCPS2 on check out for the CPS2 case and you got it! I only have 1 and the coupon only works once. This will be limited to US/JAPAN only.

Sorry for the relative quietness from me over the past months. A lot has changed! I am back in the US, retired from the Navy, started a new career as a Senior Military Ops Analyst, bought a house, adopted more kitties, and expanded the Panzer Fight Stick line up a lot!

I have opened up CPS1, CPS2, and CPS3 case orders for the last time in 2023 for those still looking to get them. Take a look here:

Oh... I even updated my website too :)

I ordered mine, luckily the blue/yellow combo is what I needed! (I missed out last time as you said blue/yellow combo had been stopped) 👍

Warning: mostly a retread from the CPS1 thread :)

Good morning everybody! I’ve gotten a lot of requests for this case and the list looks like it’s long enough on my website to support a run of these. I’m finalizing some detail details this week and should open up pre-orders on Monday maybe Tuesday at the latest. The goal would be to produce as many as needed for the list and have them ship probably late February. I want to give everyone an opportunity to get in on the pre-order with as much time possible.

I understand shipping cost from the US to Asia and Europe are going be expensive and then there’s customs to deal with unfortunately, it’s difficult to overcome those. Some people have had luck using third-party shipping services because of the volume they do and the prices they can charge unfortunately I don’t have access to those price prices so I can’t compete with their cost on shipping. Something with 5 million packages a year versus a couple thousand :)

I’m not going to commit to saying this is my final run of the CPS2 case, but my focus lately has been on the panzer fight stick lineup and some development work that I’m just starting on updating the MK 30 adcap super gun.

Thanks to everyone who’s PM me or emailed me about these - if I’ve been short with my replies or less warm than desired, please note there’s been a lot going on with my business development wise, my professional life and it’s long hours, and just trying to have any free time possible to enjoy life once in a while.

I’m going to include these spacers with each case shipping out to accommodate the variances between boards. If anyone wants to print some - let me know and I’ll send you the file. It’s stupid simple.

Also - first 5 preorders shipping this week!!

All current orders for CPS2 cases have shipped. One is getting picked up tomorrow by USPS :) Still have a few left in the run that are here and ready to ship out. Once these sell out, I may consider another batch in the future. We'll see.

Thanks for all of the support folks! The current preorder list is closed and cases are shipping out already. The list was never intended to remain open permanently with a rolling door of preorders being accepted. If that wasn't understood, I apologize for the confusion.

I am doing 5 more cases with blue covers and black bases (both with a textured, non-gloss coloring) that have the bottom stand offs for the board mounting to give space for the comms board, added two rectangles for the s-video jacks, and moved one of the 12mm holes to be below the other to allow for everything to fit. Huge thanks to @Mitsurugi-w for loaning a comms board to check.

One interesting thing that needs to be overcome is the support for the comms board. None of the holes line up with the A board, so I suspect some 3d printed support will be needed. Maybe a long spacer that sits between both boards.

I have FIVE new CPS2 case shells with the initial setup that supports the Comms board. It’s near perfect, but the JAMMA header and such is recessed into the case a bit and I want to refine the back a bit before run two. Interested in one? They are available on the site now and shipping within a day or two of order.

This new version of the case supports the Link PCB. To do this, we had to move the overall PCB mounting further into the case which recessed the JAMMA edge. If your JAMMA connector has ears - it will not fit onto the PCB, it will be blocked by the case. You can trim those off (carefully at your own risk) and it will fit. Because of the way the comms board fits into the B board, this had to be done to ensure everything could be assembled as easily as possible. Additionally, we created two "support pillars" that you will need to fit under the comms board and screw into. This prevents the board flexing down and holds it in place better. It won't stop it from moving UP though. I intend on solving that in the next interaction of these cases by adding a securing post to the bottom of the case. The Comms Board and overall assembly sits back about 5mm from the edge the case. The next revision will address this as well.

The colors are: Blue Top and Black Bottom. Fitment is TIGHT. Be careful separating the halves so you don't scratch them at the mating points.

Due to the need for MINOR revisions. I have discounted these $20. This discount will not follow through to the next iteration. These are in stock and shipping now.
