Minigun Supergun - An Open Source Supergun

I'm using version 2.5 final, the cable I'm using is from a specialist cable store in Spain, I'm using it on an old tube TV, not one of the newer flat-screen TVs.

For the version of minigun I mean are you using the mini din 8 pin version or the mini din 9 pin version? The 8 pin version doesn't require any components in the AV cable. The 9 pin version does.

What is the manufacturer and model of the TV? We need to know what csync level it is expecting.

It's definitely the 8 one. I don't know the model of the TV right now, I'm not at home, but I've tried it on two TVs and they did the same thing. I'm also surprised.

This is all, the 4 resistors and the capacitor
Yes that is correct. With the unit unpowered check the ohms reading over all your resistors. You can probably work out which ones have more to do with video, check there first. Front and back of the board. You shouldn't need that 150ohm resistor.

Which ones should I look at to verify sync?

I can't remember off the top of my head and it will take me longer to look it up than what it would take you to just do them all. I think there is 11 total and the one above the LED is for the LED so don't bother with that one.

Getting no audio from my supergun. Using genesis2 SCART cable with nothing connected to audio jack itself. Any general tips I can follow?

Hi. I have a minigun advanced v2 which was working until I switched on the LPF. The screen went blank, so I switched it off again. Now I seem to have lost sync. OSSC says no sync, and connecting directly to my SCART TV I get an out-of-sync image just in red.

Does using the LPF switch on the minigun while it's on break something? Any ideas what's likely broken and how I can fix it?

Thanks.

Its not the first time i have heard that hot switching the LPF has caused similar issues.

"Hot switching the THS7374's low-pass filter (LPF) on and off by physically connecting and disconnecting it to ground is possible, but it is not recommended and can lead to image artifacts or damage the chip" - not my words or text just something I.found online

Haven't fully worked out why this happens. Needless to say hot switching video signals is rarely good.

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like the chip has been damaged then. ☹️ I'll have to look into replacing it.

I have been trying to get the part from digikey to build a minigun. but apparently this cap is not sold anymore.

UMP1C330MDD1TP CAP ALUM 33UF 20% 16V RADIAL TH Nichicon, this is a bipolar cap, what replacement are you guys using?

Hey guys, I’ve had a minigun for a while and now the 5V won’t stay consistent. I thought my issue was a faulty PSU (meanwell RT65A) so I ordered a new one. I turned it on and the voltage won’t stay consistent. It keeps going up and down between 4.5 and 5.0. What could be the issue?

5v will get pulled down by the arcade board circuit, but it could also be that the measurement component is failing. Have you measured with a multimeter?

Power is just passed through the Minigun. It does not regulate it.

Mean Wells can perform erratically with PCBs that draw very little current. What board are you having issues with?
