Hey All,

I was speaking with @garou81 last night and I tested the retrocastle v2 jamma solution vs the mistercade v2 jamma and noticed a startling difference in video quality. First, I'm not trying to shit on Porkshop. I've purchased MANY things from him and he was very kind recently. My mistercade went missing in the mail and he kindly sent out another one as soon as possible. Also, I believe that the complete package that Porkshop offers with his solution is leaps and bounds better than anything else on the market.

Unfortunately, there is a pretty stark difference in video quality. I'm posting this so we can get to the bottom of it and am in no way bashing the mistercade.

I believe many people have already posted stills from their mistercade. The only still I have at the moment is from a video I shot of the mistercade in action.

For context, I am running this on a Sega Blast City.

Have you tried tuning the 3 video pots on the Mistercade V2? Looks like your RGB levels might be a bit too high.

Sorry for the delay, all.

I purchased a few tubes last week and decided to test the Mistercade and Retrocastle on a different tube. Please note, I am testing the Mistercade AFTER removing the three resistors.

The mistercade immediately looked desaturated and less crispy.

Not sure how to proceed here. I have two more tubes I purchased and plan on testing both options through those tubes as well.

Does anyone know how we proceed here?

Looks like I posted it in the wrong thread.
I'm trying to install my MisterArcade v2 in my Evo Supergun. I'm running into problems getting the controllers to recognise. It uses the Undamned USB Decoder Plus by UD Game Tech to translate the USB signal.

Does the OLED display show the control inputs responding? You can also plug your USB controls directly into the MiSTercade and not use the Undamned Decoder FWIW.

no it doesn't show. Yeah I do that for now, but I would love to use the usb ports which I have and not need to get the cables to the back of my system.
 
Alright, thanks for the info. I have an Undamned USB Decoder - I’ll try it with my MiSTercade V2 and will report back.

I’m not familiar with the Evo SuperGun and Google isn’t turning up anything obvious. Can you share a link to it? Do you have a Neo Geo controller you can plug directly into the SuperGun so we can isolate the Undamned Decoder as the culprit?

I just want to update everyone on my testing of the V2 with my nanao ms-2930
Initially I was having a strange issue with lines in text, this was video via the jamma edge.
By using vga out from V2 and vga in on blast city and disconnecting the RGB from the amp up connection I was able to get the best video I’ve ever seen from the V2 in 15k
So if you have vga input the issue with color bleed/strange saturation is non existent.

Right...but it's sold as a Jamma solution and Jamma looks terrible. Did @misteraddons ever respond to this thread?

Sounds like an impedance issue. Blast to the rescue, the decision to change the design from v1 was not the best it seems.
 
Hey, I've got a little bit of an issue getting my buttons 4-6 going on my Mistercade.

I've got a NNC with one of Franco's jamma looms installed. The Jamma loom has a kick harness attached as well as having buttons 4 and 5 on pins 25 and 26 with 27 and 28 being ground, like a regular Jamma. I've tried using the harness, but I'm not getting anything, and in the Jamma+ mode, I'm getting button 6 in a constant pressed state (which makes sense, as 27 is ground), and some intermittent inputs on 4,5.

I was a little curious about how that jamma+ switch worked. Does it merely modify pin 27? When it is turned off, is 27 NC or set to ground? Does it modify pins 25 and 26 as well?

Also, regarding a wiring solution. I could disconnect pins 25 and 26 on my jamma edge and try hooking up through the kick harness, or I could rewire the harness for the jamma+ option (splicing the ground from 27 into 28 as well and just putting the button 6 inputs and connecting it to 27. Just figured I'd pick your brains before I start rewiring the harness (Franco did a much more solid job putting it together than I can probably manage).

Suppose it would be worth adding that I'm not really planning on running anything other than the miSTercade using the Jamma loom (in addition to my naomi 2 in JVS mode), and the loom is functioning fine with other jamma PCBs.

I'm not on AP much. If you have issues with your unit, please email me on my site. I recommend starting with the resistor mod - I can do it for you if needed. This affects the contrast.

It modifies buttons 5 and 6 for both players (pins 26 and 27 respectively). In the "JAMMA+ ON" position, the pins are connected to the microcontroller button inputs.
In the "JAMMA+ OFF" position, Pins "26" and "d" are disconnected and pins "27" and "e" are grounded.
