I think more will be coming available as the game will no longer support online play come this November
Is a new shaft needed for these joysticks?
Also, I was thinking of getting the banana part injection molded if the price is within reason and Im able to sell spares. But it looks like there are 2 versions of the original? One with 2 screws and one with 3? This is a long shot though
Lastly, will these joysticks work as well for the conversion? They came up on yaj

Those will work. Base is the same, but use a shorter and thicker shaft. 1 version of the print is to be use on this stick (2 hole). The other is for original shaft (3 hole)Is a new shaft needed for these joysticks?

I wonder if it would be worthwhile to machine the proper shaft? I have a buddy that has a machine shop, but I would need an original shaft.
Long shot, but If anyone has an original monkey ball joystick with banana for sale let me know. I would be willing to look into doing proper repros of at least the shaft and banana.
Oh btw, I got a set of the joysticks @nnap posted so will be doing the conversion/retrofit.

I work in manufacturing, injection molding is like 25-50K
Yes, I know what the costs are like. This is a small part though and it seems like the models are mostly done/available. The big ticket item is getting the mold done. The actual plastic, injection process, labor is not that much really depending on volume. But, the return on the investment might not be there to justify this, but I have spent way more $$$ on worse things

I'll have my first batch ready this weekend matched to the correct yellow paint with the airbrushed green and brown tip (working off a NOS Banana), the body of the banana is the current 3d print file made by NNAP, but i'm sanding the top part of the banana to smooth out the radius like the original as well. it's looking really good so far. This is a base coat clear auto-body paint system, i'll add gloss reducer in the clear coat so it looks more like plastic. I'll post the results.
Excited to see the results, if you are selling I'll buy 2.
I'd be interested in buying a couple as well.

Thats the idea, I'm co producing these with XeD he's 3D printing, i'm finishing them.

3D printing is such a boon to this hobby. I honestly don't think it's possible to make injection molding work for this, the price to get in is just too high for the limited numbers that would be bought even if you advertised it in every arcade group you could find.
But the ability to do these small run parts, with some extra effort granted, is just such a blessing. I'm enamored with the ability to produce so many things in-house now compared to even 10 years ago.
I just got a laser cutter, and I'm still learning to really take advantage of it, but I'm already putting it to use in my arcade space. My 3D printer long ago earned its keep just in arcade related projects. Next up is a CNC, and I've got arcade plans for that too.
Really looking forward to seeing a little stack of these, keep us updated!

You are gonna love the laser, just so many uses. I need to get a bigger place to get full since cnc setup to cut 4x8ft sheets, but I have smaller table top one, still learning to use that one since you have so many options with bits, etc.. laser, 3d printer, cnc are a winning combo.

Yeah, it's already super useful and I'm only scratching the surface. I've wanted one for years for projects and finally just pulled the trigger instead of obsessively researching and thinking about it. Went with a 600x400mm cutting area for compromise between size of machine and working space. Definitely big enough for marquees and fightsticks and PCB cases and all that standard good stuff.
4x8 would be awesome. I'm on pre-order with the OneFinity, will have 32"x32" capacity. Again, compromise on space vs working area. I'm fitting all this into my garage with the arcade, so it's a tradeoff between games and workshop with every choice.
With pass through I can fake bigger stuff as needed, but not the same as full sheet capacity.
Yeah, that's my thinking too, really nice overlap of capabilities.
Anyways, sorry to geek out in this thread about my tools, but the whole topic just makes me really happy. Both for what I can do, but also seeing what other people do with it. Creativity in action gets me worked up!
