I bought a supposedly "working" board from arcade spare parts, I got this because the one I previously had was not working due to displaying Nothing but a "No signal" and I wanted one working so I can more easily diagnose the problem. But unfortunately even this one is failing to boot, it gets farther than my original Board since it actually gets to the Namco splash screen but then after that I get greeted by a "no signal" again. I'm probably gonna work on getting this refunded or replaced but does anyone know what would cause this?

There appears to be warnings when all the lines are scrolling but because your video is in the day time, we can't really see what is written...
it says [disk] mounting .... and then complains about missing files? is that right?

@mindstorm88 can you post a boot up video of yours?
Just re-recorded it with a better view should be able to make it out a bit better. But I viewed other Namco N2's booting up and I remember seeing similar "warning" messages.

"couldn't open /etc/fstab". ok should not be an issue.

Did you get this machine recently ? or are you the one trying to sell it for a while ? ;) ... with that "no signal" message in the description ?

, your Namco should be in a blue box ... (and you're right, the same warning couldn't open /etc/fstab is there).

I'm thinking video card issue.

can you swap it from the one that's not booting at all?

Just swapped out the video card with my other N2, it booted up just like before and ended right at the same spot with a "No signal" like usual.

I also tried to switch out the ram, but that caused my N2 to start beeping and not boot up at all, so I switch the ram back and now it's back to failing to boot after the Namco splash screen.

So I noticed the entire N2 system just shuts down after that Namco screen, so I'm starting to think it might be an issue with the power supply so My next course of action is to switch them out and see if I see anything different, I just wish this power supplies weren't in so tight.

I decided that replacing the PSU is not worth the effort, the fit is just too tight and I don't wanna go through the effort of switching it back if it still doesn't work. I think I tested enough on this board and gonna look into just replacing it since it's still in the 7 day testing period. No use trying to fix something that was sold to me as working.

I have 2 scrap pcs for this, both missing the video card. Let me guess, you're in Toronto?

arcade spare parts has these listed: ... yikes hopefully you didn't pay that and if you did, I also would want it working!

For your info, did you know that you can put a chihiro in your cab and run Wangan Midnight 1 and 2 ?
I see they also sell some, just sayin'

Yep I payed the 790 cause I was desperate to get it working, was pretty frustrated to see it still not working. you can see why I don't wanna mess with it now lol. I have a Triforce I'm thinking of throwing in there if I can't get this working, everyone loves Mario Kart.

Ya that should also work! go for it!
The only thing I'm curious is about the card reader, I'm assuming my Maximum Tune 3 card reader won't work on Mario Kart, do you know which one would? I couldn't really find any info online about it, everyone just talks about emulating it instead.

I have a number of these N2 systems - and have replaced parts in almost all of them. Based on your video - my assumption would be bad hard drive.

And you are right - WMMT3 card reader won't work with Mario Kart - you need the card reader that came with WMMT2.

Someone from arcade Spare parts sent me a video of the N2 working before being shipped out it's so beautiful 🥺, so I guess something must of gotten damaged during the shipping process, that or I'm super unlucky and it decided to die when I tried it for the first time, just shows you how super unreliable these things are. https://t.co/R0tmbTem5p
