Looks like the NeoSD guys are having quality control issues. Besides the crappy assembly job on the cart, the guy in the video had to void is warranty to seat the PCB correctly.

Just another example of a rush job. Rather wait and get a good product.

Funny how not allowing pcb manufacture or assembly in asia has helped us avoid this problem so far. It is more expensive but the quality is better also. I've had up to a 25% failure rate with a certain place that did the full assembly on one small project for us.

Not sure where they have the NeoSD manufactured but the build quality itself doesn't scream Chinese.

Guys, what size/type of memory card will we need for the multi? Just want pick a few of them and have them ready.

Also, do we have to do any type of prep work to the game roms and/or will there be a post of some good-to-go roms?!
 
We'll give instructions about the roms, but I'm sure some good samaritan (like Rot in NG forum) will make packs available.

About microSD, just pick a good branded one, not the latest newest ever, but rather look for compatibility. A 16Gb Samsung would be my bet.

You're right. I'm thinking that the NeoSD is going to have that problem though......

I'm actually drinking coffee and tinkering with two potential packs for Darksoft's kit right now. I'd do the same as I did with CPS2 and make both full and minimalist packs, since there so many doubles in MAME.

Mypack aren't official though since I'm not affiliated with Darksoft in any way, besides being a huge fan of his hardware and community ethics. Everything I do (EverDrives, etc) is free and independent.

I do sympathize with the guys at NeoSD. Seems they're in a lose/lose situation. If they take their time making sure majority of their carts pass quality control, then people complain how it's taking too long. If they try to meet delivery expectations them people complain about the lack of quality control.

I wouldn't feel sorry for the NeoSD guys. I would feel sorry for their customers.

SmokeMonster, you are an unsung hero in gaming underground in my opinion. Your Everdrive packs are so helpful to the community (they rock!), the time you invested to benefit everyone in the gaming community is honorable to say the least. I think the work that guys like Darksoft, Krikzz, and you do helps keep retro gaming on authentic hardware alive in a major way. The work you guys do also is important in the historical preservation of gamings past. Cool people stepping up to the plate creating products and filling voids, helping one another out, sharing our experiences and memories of games and how they impacted us, this is what the gaming community is really about, and it's F'ing awesome!
 
You know, the only thing that I like about the NeoSD is the logo. That, at least, is nifty. Everything else, though? Pass. Pass quickly, and never look back.
