What's new

New Astro city. New power supply and jamma harness

While that's true, I didn't think this was a secret
maybe not a secret but something a lot of people don't seem to realize. I often see people buying $4 drivers and proclaiming that they must be high quality because they're the same ones that Bose use... :/
Oh God... are they in for a surprise.. :S

Bose has never been about drivers, Bose focus 100% on the electronics. Actually they have always said that they don’t release and will never release any kind of technical information about the drivers they use.

so yes, if you take a driver out of a Bose speaker. It’s no longer Bose.. it might sound like crap or it might not, but if it sounds like crap, you can’t blame Bose about it.

I just use cheap Visaton ones. They're the correct size. You'll have to cut the positive terminal though with a pair of snips, as the terminal is too wide for the connector.

I think they sound fine? If you're running jamma games, most of them have terrible sound, so it's not like super expensive speakers will make much of a difference (or even any).

Good quality speakers (and amp) only highlight the terrible stuff in sound even more ;)
But of course they highlight the good in proper sounding games as well…

I blew my amp because the cab's speakers were still wired to the main 18 pins AMP UP connector (through the 4 pin connector with the white loop) when I connected it to the NVS-4000 (green rect on my picture). Both the inline fuses on the stereo amp card were blown as well as the amp. Replacing these parts fixed the issue so at least it could be repaired.

The cabs speakers must be connected to the NVS4000 Audio Out (4 pins AMP connector), in the end what happened for me was more about forgetting to remove the speakers connector from the "main" AMP rather than being mislead by the informations on the PSU.
I’m having a few issues, and was pointed here.
I’m very confused.
R1 was fried on my amplifier, and since has been fixed, fuses are good.

Are you saying …
NEVER PLUG SPEAKERS IN the looped female that comes from the DC OUT Port?

Like this?
And always have them in speaker out port, for jamma and rca stereo to speaker in use?
If so, for jamma mono, is anything else needed? Such as… does anything need to be in speakers in?

Check the attached picture :

The looped female port is left empty.
The cab's speakers are plugged to "SOUND OUT".
I do have a cable with RCA connectors (for PCBs that have Stereo sound) that is connected to "SOUND IN".
For regular Jamma mono you don't need anything as the AMP will route the Jamma sound to the speakers.

In the case I play a PCB without Stereo sound with my setup I just leave the RCA cable laying inside the PCB compartment (making sure it does not touch any metal for good measures).
