Hi, i have a question, is it still needed only the ultrabios right now, or is there a way to work the ultrasimms with the superbios now ? Not sure to understand in the manual.
Thanks in advance.

No, Ultrasimms only work if you have UltraBIOS.
I have another question, can i put the 2 version of the third strike on the simms 5 ?
Do i use smart key for the makoto and then program for the rethird ?
And is it still not avaible with a custom for the rethird ?

Have I missed some news?

What's this unit?

Hello Again Everyone.

Following up on the issue regarding my ultra simms documented by @cruzlink2 and I. I've received my ultra simms back from Cruz with the new one sent by @Darksoft and proceeded to run a gamut of tests.

Unfortunately, the issue I had with the glitched sprites across all games still persists. Just to eliminate any doubt and further isolate the issue, I went ahead and swapped the ultrasimms and my ultrabios cart into another, good working cps3 board I have and there was no improvement or change. I'll post some clips of the behavior I'm observing below, but be aware that every single game has some sort of sprite issue, some very minor, but the absolute worst ones occur in warzard and third strike, not consistently on every boot, but enough that it is a constantly occurring problem. Now, considering everything we know thus far, I have to conclude that the issue either lies in the simms or, more likely, the ultrabios cart. Based on Cruz's tests, the ultra simms were working fine with his cart. He even tested both the old and new cables to make certain. When he had my ultrabios cart and was using it to run tests, the issue was replicated on two of his boards. For the sake of my sanity I also tested my two sets of regular Simms with a converted superbios cart I use on my other cps3 and there were no issues. I actually have a message history with @Mitsurugi-w after I bought my ultrabios cart from him detailing a constant sprite glitch issue I was having at the time, where I suspected that something was wrong with the cart. I was assured that the cart was probably fine. The issue eventually went away by buying as many simms as I could to replace the ones I had on the board at the time. I don't know what else could be the problem at this point aside from the cart, and I can't confirm this by testing another Ultrabios cart, as it is the only one I have. Is there anything else we can try?

I also talked to @cruzlink2, We sent him new simm and cable and he tested everything that you sent him and all works well including your motherboard. At this point, the only.tging that was not tested was the Ultrabios cart. I suggest that you send it to @Mitsurugi-w

I'm willing to do whatever I can within reason to get this to work. I'll follow up with him via DM. Thanks for all the help so far!

@Mitsurugi-w got your mobo and ultrasimms and confirmed that all works well. Problem is somewhere else in your setup, probably too little Vcc or with lots of noise.

Can you post some pictures of your supergun or PSU. Did you check your 5V on the jamma edge?

Finally had the chance to run some more extensive testing based on @Mitsurugi-w 's tests and advice. I took a multimeter to the jamma edge of my super gun, which is an Axunworks Control box. I have the optional jamma extension for it that has a voltmeter on it. The voltages on the jamma edge did not match what the voltmeter was reading (5.10 vs 4.98 or 89 via multimeter on the edge, I can't recall exactly). I shouldn't have been surprised to learn, after reasearching, that these voltmeters are commonly not very accurate and require calibration. It appears that I've been undervolting the board during my more extensive testing. I will say, this is all testing I did AFTER I got my board back from Cruz with the replacement cable and Simm3. Before I ever seny my board to him, these problems were present in a variety of testing environments to different degrees (in cab, different superguns, no a/v mod, post a/v mod, pre/post buffer chip replacements, etc). But I am relieved to say that after adjusting my voltages (to a consistent 5.0) I'm almost never seeing the sprite glitches. Occassionally third strike will boot with them, and new generation does as well. But everything else seems to be working okay after switching between games and testing. Tested the board in a couple of my cabs as well and didn't get any sprite glitches yet.

Sorry for the headache everyone. Shaking my head at how easily I overlooked the voltage discrepancy. In any case, I appreciate all the help and advice from the community.

Finally lol!

yes, only one. What makes you think that there is more?
I don't know enough about CPS3, just wanted to be sure that I didn't get an outdated version, in case there had been various revisions. Now I can order from saveyourgames without any worries.
