DARKSOFT New Namco System 2 Multi

using faster RAM or ROMs shouldn't have any impact on the game performance. In-fact many boards have different speed chips from board to board depending on component availability.

I've got 4 PCBs on my desk all the same game PCB and there are 3 different manufacturers and 3 different speeds between the chips on each board.

No, if the memory at any point is not fast enough, it will provide bad data, if it's gfx RAM, you'll see bad GFX, if it's code it will likely hang or reset.

Was helping my dude @Psyko-M1 get his multi up and running and he encountered some sprite corruption (lines through character sprites across all games, everything else seemed ok).

He was using a board that was a converted to Rolling Thunder 2.

He figured out the issue, and that was on his conversion a chip populated at location "6N" was removed.

Placing this chip back in place brought it all back to life. Nice troubleshooting and just posting here for anyone facing this issue down the line.

Also a reminder to keep your chips when installing multis / doing conversions (and also dumping them and checking against MAME for undumped gems).

I have looked at these schematics a bit too much ... probably 5 lines right?

Of course I am not throwing these things potentially belonging to gaming history

Installed multi on a previously working Assault. Currently getting a static "7RamTest" in most cases and a "3ramtest" one. most output i get is a small flashing square with game selector on assault. I rechecked dips and reinstalled/checked fitment. programmed flash modules were verified on a working setup. Should I be looking to replace a ram as well?

I assume Assault on the Multi isn’t bolting up either? Try removing all the socketed chips, blowing all the sockets out with compressed air, and reinstalling them.

This boardset kills ram. I had no problem on my donor but the multi exposed the ram was failing & a poor recap/trace damage on a cpu board.
Luckily CPU boards are cheap.

If you replace the ram, just do them all, they're socketed, I bet your problem goes away.
Tip is normal. Just add coin/start.
Do you recommend a recap as well ?

I am still struggling to found all the rams . Do you know guys some reliable electronics shops or contact. I can’t get the M5M5256AP 70L even équivalent ones Cy62256LL-70PC. On schematics it is HM62256-70 that I could nt found. is it ok with a HM62256ALP-70?

I've used https://www.utsource.net/ for buying random obsolete chips.

@SC-Ultra Did you have a chance to fix the issue? I’m having the same symptom with the Assault donor board.

No, sorry I have no idea whats wrong. This board is clean. If someone has assault working as donor and would take a look if you see any difference I would appreciate it. Was hoping perhaps I removed something I shouldn't have or maybe needed to burn something. I've checked the dips, cleaned the boards, reseated, etc.

Hi everyone,
I finally changed the Rams on the video board, the glitches disappeared and I did nt noticed any other problem but sometimes depending on the game, before the game starts, 33 tip, adsmiss or 35 warning 00180040 appears. In all the cases I can start the game any way, but I am wondering whether it’s showing other problems ?
