Hey there y'all, recently picked up an STV multi and installed it today. Unfortunately most of the games I've tried loading up just say "Error on cartridge" and won't boot. Have been able to get Radiant Silvergun and Guardian Force to run. Have read that the issue could be the SHC2 IC's, did go into the system test and they show as ok.

Currently am using a Sandisk 16GB microSD card that I formatted to FAT32 and the game pack is the Darksoft 2023 version. Using an original JP bios. Soldered on the reset wire and audio wire. Board currently does not have a 2032 battery installed but thought that would just mean it couldn't save settings/high scores. Is there anything else I should check before seeing about reflowing the SHC2 IC's? I feel like I'm alright at soldering but haven't done much surface mount work and don't have a hot air station.

Tried using another Sandisk 16GB card that has worked fine in the Darksoft Taito F3 multigame, still the same issue. Also confirmed that Cotton Boomerang and Cotton 2 will load.

I had the same issue. are you by chance using a mac? Turns out it wouldn't work when I was trying to set it up with my mac. switched to my pc and boom, everything worked.
 
Did you see the instructions? You need to checage cabinet type between some games. Also there is a special test menu if you keep pressed the the test button while booting. This special menu will test in detail the SH2 MASTER and SLAVE.

I did see the test menu and the dual cpu test shows good

I did also check and I think the issue is that the game isn't showing up in the test menu, this is when I loaded up Winter Heat.

I did solder in the audio cable so I hear the the start and stop sounds from the multi flashing and see it on the LCD screen. Screen will go black while flashing and then the system restarts when it says its done.

That's in theory good, but very often eventhough it shows good, both SH2 need a resolder.

that would be compatible with what I mentioned before from the instructions. Change the cabinet type between 1P and 2P.
 
That microsd is OK. Problem must be the mobo. Can you try a different one or rework the 2x SH2 on yours? Send a picture of your multi installed as well please.
