Thread 'Released: NBA JAM TE/SE For (any) Midway Wolf unit boards port Milestone 1'

I have decided to release this in the current state, as i keep postponing it because of time issues, or i get lost in writing more documentation.
(My backlog is also insanely full, i need to pick projects carefully.)

So here it is: A port from source of NBA Jam TE/SE aka the 5.0 Griffey release.

It's a full port of the T-Unit code into W-Unit (which is very similar, but not quite.)
A lot of time and work went into this. I started back around Christmas 2023, so it's almost a year of work, reverse engineering, fixing up code, (back/forward)porting of stuff from Hangtime and so on.

A port of MK2 Rev 3.0 onto Wolf Unit (UMK3,MK3,Hangtime,Rampage,WWF and so on).

I'll need testers on real hardware please. @Darksoft pls sticky ;)

What's new:
========
- Based on Revision 3.0 with minor changes (no other src leak).
- It's missing the code for sliding down the spikes in the stage fatal.
- All hardware i/o / DMA2 / protection / DCS / CMOS stuff remapped.
- Dip / PAL/SCRATCH/GFX RAM tests etc fixed.
- Individual stuff like select screen/diag/game inputs fixed.
- Rebuilt DCS audio for Wolf boards / 4x 8Mbit chips
- Show endings in test menu added. (for debug)
- Deprotected, it should run even w/o PIC, please test.

That doesn't seem like a lot of changes but it took 2 years to get here.

- Board pics in diag mode. Edit: Done 30/8/2025 L3.1W

If anything is upgraded from the todo list, this will just be a 2-rom reburn, gfx and sound remains the same between all MK2 revisions.

I have had zero reports of anyone trying to run this on real hardware, if you have a MK2 single 8MB rom board, you can simply drop in the GFX roms on a Wolf unit and save a lot of time. I don't have one though :(
 
I have a Hangtime board…

May I purchase ROMs from someone? I understand the risk of it being a test release

Tested and no sound (error message timeout from sound section).
Gfx seems ok.

It is not, your screenshot shows 3.0W instead of 3.1W.
Please download the updated one from the first post.

Edit: You need to reburn all DCS(u2,u3,u4,u5) and the two program roms (U54/U63) only.

I burned U2 to U5 and U54-U63 from last archive : reboot after rom check.
With old U54-U63 it starts with no sound but gfx seems ok.

Boot screen clearly shows 3.0W for the version so there is something really wrong with your program roms. You must erase roms before burning them again. Burn with verify.. or try two new 27c040 or 4001 these are not good eproms.

I’m only trying to test to help and go further. So I can’t work more, I give up.
Maybe someone else could help.

The Google link shows mk2wb version.
I downloaded it and burned twice with different M27C4001 and checked and verify and compared SHA between EPROM and archives : everything match.
Older version works without sound. I don’t know what is wrong with the archive or link or other…
