Restoration almost done !

Thanks buddies. I'll get a complete sticker set next week. I'll post some pics
I’ve contacted Mikonos (Zona Arcade) to see if he can source the proper fluorescent offset printed side decals - and he said he can. It just takes a while I think. If you’re interested that is. Plain cmyk green wouldn’t cut it in my opinion for a beautiful restoration.

Update of above. I’ve received an email from Mikonos saying he can’t find anyone to do the fluro ink at this stage. That’s throughout Spain and France. I’ll update if I get any new leads.

Forget mikonos, his work is garbage. There is no worst than him, in anyway.

The guys you should contact for these are @hursit (https://www.trfightstick.com/) or @alberto1225. You can also check https://arcadeartrepro.com ( the name of the owner is Barry Buise). There is also https://www.candycabclub.com who seems doing good stuff but Idk more about him.

I received the whole sticker set recently from http://www.ishiimark.co.jp/index_guide0.html.
They can reproduce almost everything except pieces with a trademark, like ''Sega'' for example.

So there is still one sticker missing, which I call the ''phone sticker'' but I'll find a way to get it.
There is a guy from Taiwan (ex retro-daily) who made it but with the wrong dimensions unfortunatley

I was happy with Mikonos work except some Aero decals that were off in colour. He said the printer was at fault. But I agree - Barry and Alberto are great and I am in contact with @djsheep at Candy Cab club for other things now and then. Great find though with those warning decals. I have bookmarked them for the future.

Minokos work is crap. Better not to promote him. He shoul be banned

@erzane did you send them scans of old ones from your machine? Just curious what the process was to get these done. Are they reasonably priced? Thanks 🙏🏼.

Yes, I removed them carefuly from my cab then scanned them in 600 dpi then sent him with dimensions and instructions.
Price was around $300 shipment/fees included for like qty 4/5 pces of each

In fact, there are three stickers missing from Ishiimark because they have no permission to reproduce a brand since Japanese laws regarding copyrights seems to be more stricts than in Europa : the ''Phone sticker'', the ''Certificate'', and the ''Serial''

The following attached sticker set was made by the Taiwanese guy I was referring to earlier (ex retro-daily). Unfortunatly, the ''Phone sticker'' is too small, the ''Certificate'' should be done in some paper, not vinyl, and the ''Serial'' is also (a little bit) too small, also the ''SEGA'' font is not correct.

Idk about the others. Some stickers differs regarding the year of production of the cabs, maybe...

Ps. I also attached a scan of the original ''Phone sticker'' - that I removed from my cab - with the real dimensions.

Thanks @erzane - at first I thought that shop had Astro decals as a kit but makes sense they don’t and you had them commissioned.

You may be aware of these https://jammastar.com/gb/stickers/2159-sega-sticker-serial-number.html?search_query=Astro&results=20. Generic though and not custom numbers to match your cab.

This - but out of stock unfortunately - https://jammastar.com/gb/stickers/2...escription.html?search_query=Astro&results=20

And gateninety who is out of stock or changing their shop maybe. They opened a game centre in Belgium so I’m not sure if they’ve abandoned the shop. These are for an Aero but some are the same. https://gateninety.com/product/sega-aero-city-full-set-sticker/

That's interesting.

In my experience his stuff is good. He even managed to reprint foil backed Sega Lindbergh decals (although not cheap)

I made a thread somewhere that compares CPS2 labels from different vendors.. I would say his replacement stickers for my Astro didn't stick very well.

One part is difficult to manage : the hinge. Unfortunately you can't do nothing with these old hinges since they are rusty as hell. I brang two to the manufacture to replate them but the plating layer is so thin that you can still see the damages left by the rust. The rust is so deep on these hinges that they left some cavities which can't be covered by the plating (I also tryed to nickel them but the nickel layer is too thick and the result isn't appropriated). Hopefully I find out which type of hinge was used by Sega.

The 350 mm Sega ''piano'' or ''continuous'' hinge of the Astro is made by an assemblage of two hinges : 32 mm and 500 mm large. They are two types of cuts on these hinges, a central cut and four corner cuts. Sega mandated a manufacture producing hinges and other home/hobby products to cut the hinges, drill the holes and assemble both hinges together in order to customize them (btw, the hinge itself can be used for different purposes). At the time, Sega did not order stainless steel unfortunatley but nowadays the hinges sold by the manufacture are in inox. So, you just have to buy the hinges by Monotaro (Monotaro is one of the retailers of the manufacture producing the hinges) and find a company able to do the same job since the manufacture selling the hinges do not respond to custom inquires for small quantities.

I know a company near my town using ''water pressure'' on this type of parts. So, in near future I'm planning to visit them. I hope they can reproduce the same cuts/holes but the guy I called there said the holes can be an issue since the hinge is not large enough, so they need to see it first. But, if all goes well the company will be able to remove the stem of each hinge, drill the holes, do the cuts then assemble a new hinge with both half of the former ones then add the stem and that's it !

So, the hinge is bought, that's the original one made the manufacture mandated by Sega, now all I have to do is reproduce the shape in order to make it fit the panel base.

Amazing work. I’m just starting out with 3 NAC’s. One is original and 2 have been hacked at and painted, I’m using the original one to try the get the other 2 back to a decent level.

Did you ever get the hinges water jet cut? I would like to get some done. Do you also have the part numbers of the 2 pieces of hinge I couldn’t quite make the part numbers out in your pictures. I will look at doing a batch of them. Cause I really need 3 sets and then some spares.

Thanks, waiting for the next updates.
