Reverse engineering 161 in 1 cartridge to change Rom games

Has anyone used the xgecu t48 to program the S/M chips?
Do you know if the adapter EX-C is the corrected one? I bought this one as per the AliExpress description, but now checking on the programmer itself, it's asking for the EX-A ...
Hi, the t48 is compatible with S/M chips, you can use this adaptor: https://es.aliexpress.com/item/1005004667380226.html the "ex-a" is the correct for the t48, im tested it. The xgecu t52 use another adapter.

I asked several vendors and they told me (their chatbot actually) the good adapter was the EX-C. And by the description of the ad, it seems to be ok. So I purchased it (still pending to arrive).
The adapter is not cheap, 20€, so if it is not working, I'm quite angry.
In vendor's ad it says EX-A it's for 29xxx chips, so I figured that was not it
EX-C is for, among others, 28F512P

Hi, i'm tested all adaptors EX-A, EX-B and EX-C, the only works with 28F512P chip is the EX-A adaptor.

Yes. It's working great.

👍🏻
You are also using the EX-A adaptor?
I use EX-A on T48 and it works great. I align the TSOP56 chip while looking under the microscope as the socket is so-so at making good contact. I even paid extra to buy the adapter from "XGecu Official Store" which says that they use "made in Japan" high quality connectors and not junk like the other sellers on AliExpress.

I always love the Pick'n'Mix mode that came with UniBios with the old 161 in 1 cart.
Is there anyway to get Pick'n'Mix mode works with this new 161 in 1 cart?

Thank you so much!!! I have been trying to figure out a way to soft-reboot back to the games menu. Zardam has a patch for the unibios that does exatly what I was looking for. Christmas came early.

I am a little curious about this too, I bought an all-in-one from leonk that works great, I got a patched unibios 4.0 from him too that allows the soft reset back to the menu. However, Pick-N-Mix does not work (I did not expect it to btw). I tested a regular 161-in-1 v3 cart out with the same bios and Pick-N-Mix does work. It is nice to be able to leave the cab on in a rotating attract mode sometimes as opposed to the single game attract mode from the all-in-one or even just the game menu which I would have concerns about the potential for burn in.

Six months ago there were a couple posts about the bios patch for Pick-N-Mix using an all-in-one. My game list does not match the required CSV order shown, but a couple posts by kuze look like he may have been able to modify the bios patch game list with a different one and even possibly modify the game list (to exclude the 240p test suite for example). I'm curious to know, this isn't at the top of my list and unfortunately swapping the bios on my 4 slot is a bit more of a process that the socketed one slot boards, but it might be something I would look to do in the future if @kuze could possibly chime in with any info.

This is awesome, thank you!

Is there any way you can share the source assembly for the PicknMIX patch?

I ask because my cart was made with a different list than the provided CSV. Also, I'd like to be able to disable certain titles (like 240p test suite) from the PicknMIX rotation.

@zardam was kind enough to post the source/build script here:

I'm up and running with PickNMix -- thank you so much!

@rewrite For Unibios 4.0 Pick'n'Mix patch (https://github.com/zardam/ub_vortex_multicart/tree/main)
For the cart that you produce. do you use the same game list like this one https://github.com/zardam/ub_vortex_multicart/blob/main/uni-bios_4_0_PICKnMIX.csv

The patch for Unibios 4.0 requires the hardcoded gamelist to be exactly the same as https://github.com/zardam/ub_vortex_multicart/blob/main/uni-bios_4_0_PICKnMIX.csv
He does not . It was customized and I think there's a spreadsheet at the start of the thread with the game list.

Kuze took the game list I provided him and followed the github instructions to compile his own Pick-N-Mix unibios. He then wrote it to an EPROM and reported that it works great.

I've yet to try to reproduce this just because, tbh, I prefer the look of the new menu that I put on the carts vs the Pick-N-Mix look. No doubt that Pick-N-Mix looks better than the original menu that comes with 161-in-1. :)

What instructions? I'm interested in reading them/seeing what I can do with them.
