I have removed this cable from an old pc. Exactly were i need to plug in?

For a power button? Pins 6 and 8. Should be the two under the missing pin in the 2x4 pin block under the graphics card. Then try cycling the power a few times (other thread said that helped).

Looks promising, should now just need to setup the CMOS settings that got cleared. I think you can do this from the test menu, accessed by using one of the two buttons on the rear board above the ATX plate (not sure which one).

Edit: tested it on my end. SW1 will go into the setup menu where you can set the clock.
 
But can i take off the cable and the switch? or must be there for ever?. Let me check :)
 
your meter needs a new battery - thats why the reading was off earlier.

put a new battery on the board too - then use the pwer pins to start it and try to get into the bios with a usb keyboard.

This non working Sega RE2 board, now its alive. Thanks @Kujako for 24h of support. This cable did a great job.

Now, i can join the test menu and set time and date.

I think the RE2 take too much time to load, maybe it´s heavy game? i will make a video. I think the ram it´s enougth

Great news! As for it taking a long time to load, how long is long? It is after all booting Windows XP... RAM is standard at 4GB.

I think you're stuck at 4GB. I suspect it's running 32bit Windows which limits the addressable RAM to 4GB (2^32/1024). In fact, I seem to recall that due to overhead Windows XP can only use around 3.6GB.

Edit: That does seem slow... I think my multi boots quicker by quite a bit. And then once it's loaded the games start almost instantly. Which game are you trying to load? It may be looking for some additional hardware on initialization. Will time mine later today.

I think this game is a Star Horse 2 or something like this. Its like a casino. Anyway, the next step is covert this board to multi.

OK, yeah that makes sense. It is expecting some other equipment to be hooked up. Star Horse is a multi system "game" and may need network access. Here is what the setup looks like...

As you just said, surely my machine is slow, because it is waiting for network devices.
 
I'm dealing with the same issues here, lights on but nothing powers up... I tried removing the battery and move the jumper to the other position but when I plug it in, the LED turns off, and I hear a click out of the PSU....

Not sure where to go from here... I have a PC power switch but not sure where to plug it in. the connector near the GPU slot is only 7 pins total and the pic here is 9 pins.... Any help would be appreciated!!
 
I have a RE2 which fails to recognise any charge from the battery (ie. even a new one fails to boot without assistance on the reset line as described earlier). Also if I leave the coin cell in, it will drain to 0 after a few days. Seems to be a short or something in my unit. Indicates there is 0V charge from the battery in the test menu (again, even with a brand new battery), so I literally need to do the shorting of the reset line via a push-button I set up twice.

I wonder if a generic motherboard can be used as a replacement for these units with problematic motherboards? I know that works fine with other machines like the Taito X3, etc.

That sounds like a short somewhere... something is pulling power, possibly across a resistor (my guess would be the charging circuit). As for using a generic motherboard... you would end up with just a PC running as an emulation platform (emulating the system not the CPU etc). Yes it could be done, but it wouldn't be the "same" if that makes any sense.

Just do the same thing that i did. The pins are not near the GPU.
