I used a Dremel 106 bit

and a flex shaft attachment.

With this you won't break the pins, if you want to break the pins (for whatever the reason) then use a wider diamond/tungsten bit.

Hmmm cant decide whether to drill the plastic out or use a soldering iron and melt the plastic, any opinions on which is better?
 
definitely drill the plastic. Don't use soldering iron for plastic. I tried once and it became a mess!

This^

It's easier to grind the entire structure pins and all right out.
Do NOT use a solder iron (or any other heat source) in an attempt to melt the plastic!
 
is removing the three pins mandatory ?
because I have only japanese games and board and I'll use the same motherboard with the multi coming next week :rolleyes:

The board's plastic tab in the connector needs to be removed at a minimum... Full pin removal is done merely for ease/convenience.
Yes it's actually harder to carefully cut/grind away the plastic from around the pins Vs grinding it all flush.

The reason being the multi hasn't got the matching/corresponding holes for the plastic tab, the pins however are fine.

So it can be done with an exacto and a lot of patience and time
Because using the dremel is frightening to me :/ I would like to avoid to mess up with my board

Using a dremel is the most effective way to grind the tabs off, keeping the pins or not.

Don't even bother with a soldiering iron or a hot knife.

I used an Exacto knife myself - power tools and I have a mutually destructive history together. :D
 
I used a craft knife and flat blade on a soldering iron. Came out looking nice. All pins intact. Stinks a bit. Missus unfriendly...
 
Lol! No. Missus guards all of the sharp objects in the house... Ready for when I am the target!
