Ultracade UVC help

It’s still a no go 😤 moved the wire over to pin 6, adjusted the dip switches, and the problem still persists 🤷🏻‍♂️. It seems like only dip three actually changes anything. Dip 6,7,8 seem to do nothing for me on or off

Huh. I would’ve bet that was the issue.

Try setting your dips to this and report back:

Tried that combination. Still the same. When I have switch three off picture looks like this

When switch three is on looks like this

Yeah dipswitch 3 is for 15/24khz switching.
So you’d have to have the jumper on your monitor’s chassis set to whatever you’re trying to output.

Off = 15khz. Which is what I’m assuming you’re trying to get.

Do this, set dipswitch 3 to off (for 15 kHz), make sure your chassis is set to 15khz. Then while the scrambled image is displaying adjust the H-Phase . Try going from one extreme to another and see if it clears up.

Good catch @opt2not, was also surprised to see that didn't solve it. What firmware is this UVC on? Maybe they changed something regarding csync output and it's still worth combining h/v sync?

If I were to combine the H&V Sync could I just use a jumper wire on the 5&6 pins on the UVC?

Thanks bud. Will try adjusting the H phase pot later today after work. 991-9015-02 is the number on the UVC board. The manual I am referring to says revision 2.01 dated 1/23/04 https://na.suzohapp.com/images/pdf/uVCUserGuide.pdf
You need to check on the splash screen, the firmware version should be displayed there.
What do you guys have your 5v set to when using the UVC?
Not using mine yet (almost there), but I aim for about 5.05v usually.
If I were to combine the H&V Sync could I just use a jumper wire on the 5&6 pins on the UVC?
Yes, you could do that.

I also read in the user manual to swap the H sync and video ground? Not sure if this pertains to the UVC version that I have?

Ok so I tried adjusting the h phase pot, I tried jumping the 5&6 pins on the UVC, tried adjusting the dips again and still no change. Could there be a problem with the UVC board itself? Also sticker on back of UVC states is a revision 2.04.

At this point try swapping the pins on the output connector for H and GND and see if that changes anything.
The manual says this:

It looks like you have a v00 PCB, but with firmware > 2.xx ... so who knows, maybe there's an error in the manual, or maybe that combination of PCB and firmware has the old pinout.

If this doesn't work, then I'd be inclined to say that your UVC is faulty because it really should be working on that monitor. I've run my UVC in my Aero's multiple times.

Swapped the ground and H sync on the UVC and it made the image worse. This sucks. Anything on the UVC board I can check? The board looks mint and previous owner stated no issues with it.

Have you tried changing your chassis to 24khz with the different settings from your initial posting? But switch dip3 to ega.

Yes tried switching the chassis to 24khz with the new setting and no change. I have a new Astro city being delivered sometime tomorrow. Will try the UVC on that cab to see if their is any change, if not then going to chalk it up to a problem with the UVC board.

It's so strange.

Do you have another 480p source that you could use to test? ie. a 360 with a vga cable or a dreamcast with a vga cable?

I would probably do the following just to try and isolate the issue (if you haven't already done so):

- test and confirm your current source is displaying a proper 480p source
- use a different 480p source (xbox 360 or dreamcast?)
- confirm continuity between R (pin 1) G (pin 2) B (pin 3) Video Sync (pin 6) and Video GND (pin 4) from the UVC to the JAMMA Edge R (pin 12) G (pin N) B (pin 13) Video Sync (pin P) and Video GND (pin 14)
- confirm continuity between Video GND (pin 14) to GND on the jamma edge (pin 1, 2, 27, 28, A, B, e or f)
- confirm RGB S VGND is all in the correct points on the jamma edge
- remove any jumped wires and wire J7 as per the schematic pin 5 having the gap and pin 6 wired to you "Video Sync" on the jamma edge Pin P
- Jumper settings on the UVC (i have everything set to on except for jumper 6 on my setup but YMMV)

If all the above check out, then it might really come down to having a faulty UVC as your cab is working 100% in 15khz

Good luck!

I don't think it will fix his issue. The UVC has a build in screen that shows up when no input signal is detected. That's what he sees. For some reason, his arcade monitor is unable to sync to the 15khz generated by the UVC. Does this monitor even support 15khz? There were some machines that had 31khz only arcade monitors.
