UPDATED Release! NBA JAM Tournament Edition SE 5.02

Also, I've tried different chips for U12 and U13. 27C010 and 27C2001, I was unable to burn to, because the chip programmer stated that the chip was to small for the data? So I tried 27C040 AND 27C4001...but yet none of them seem to be working. Unless it IS the OKI chip? How would I go about testing it to know if it's bad or not? Everything worked fine before I re-burned all the eproms.
 
All EPROM chips are the same size bar the U3 sound chip 27C010A which is a 128k chip. 27C4001 or 27C040 chips are all 512k. You can use a 512k EPROM chip for U3 but you need to double it and I think pull two chips to GND, I could be wrong on that.
 
I do have the 27C010A for U3...once I burned that, I got music and sound effects back. It's U12 and 13 that seem to be the problem. Unless it truly is a bad OKI chip. I always verify each eprom before install as well. Everything is correct...as far as the eproms are concerned anyhow.

If everything worked fine before, you have a problem with the new eproms, and need to check your work and re-burn on the correct (blank) eproms.

Right, that makes sense. It's just that I've tried different roms, (which were verified blank), and nothing is working properly. I'll have to source some different eproms and keep trying. I appreciate all the insight fellas. Thank you!

Might also be a program/useage problem, if you write a 27C010 it should not complain about the data being too small.

If you've got 27C040 selected and write 27C010 size data to it, it will complain.

You'll need 1x 27C010, and 2x 27C040. Try writing one rom at a time and exit your writer program afterwards.

Turns out, it was the sound board itself. I swapped the sound roms with another soundboard, and boom! Working perfectly with speech! I'm gonna reflow the OKI chip on the bad board at some point and see if that helps. Thank you guys for your insight! 🙂

the ADPCM sound boards have been at an age where the old caps leak and outgas into anything nearby too. so helpful safety tip for everyone. lol

I actually recapped it the other day also. So hopefully reflowing the OKI will make a difference.

I got the rewind hack on my te pcb what roms do i burn of these to run your version :)

Finally got around to reflowing the OKI. Unfortunately, it didn't make a difference. Any other suggestions mecha?

I had to start my setup over with a brand new mame as my hard drive died. I have latest MAME setup with all bios working NBA Jam works fine but with this version only I get incorrect checksum? It was working before my setup. Could it be latest MAME is the problem or something else?

Edit: Tried MAME .262 and same thing. Normal NBA Jam TE works fine 1.0.

I think this was added to hbmame by @Robbbert as well and should have no errors on launching.
It's not supported in normal mame unless you launch it with debug mode.

I'm confused I had it latest working with Michael Jordan 5.02 then my hard drive died I had to start over now I get errors and no Michael Jordan. I do not think I had debug mode? But I'm not sure.

Regardless I'll try with HBMame, thanks.

I'm trying to get it to work in launchbox where I play all my games. It works from hbmameui. I tried command prompt and got more errors.
