I figured that this little patch I made would be useful to Virtua Racing owners who want their machines to no longer CLANK over and over while cycling through the attract mode. I found that audio data and replaced it with silence so now the attract mode is completely silent. Trying to play "PIKI-N" in the sound test menu will also be silent now. Nothing else in the game should use this sound, so it should only affect the attract mode. I was only able to test this on MAME as I do not own VR hardware, but I did receive confirmation that it works as it should on the real deal.
Provided is an xdelta patch, simply patch MPR-14873.32 and program it to a 27C160. A 27C160 is a drop-in replacement for the original mask ROM; no jumpers or lifted pins required.
