Working on a Sega Blast City

or buy the perfect drop ins Kc sells on ebay.. Wish there was another alternative from him but I havent found any
I was able to do a pretty good job of restoring them.

KC's not someone I want to do business with unless it's necessary.

Edited my last post to delete the lower impedance comment. That's not quite right. Different speakers need different amounts of power to drive them. The sensitivity rating is more important than the impedance. You should stick with the original speakers unless they sound really bad or have absolutely no low end.
Not sure if you can tell from a YouTube video but I recorded two videos of music playing through the restored Blast City speakers. It sounds like I'm getting a lot of hissing from the tweeters. I did remove and clean them but found no restoration information on them.

What do you think? Feel free to provide your honest opinion. Also, please ignore the mess.

Can’t tell from a YouTube video how good it sounds. Probably fine for arcade games. Especially older ones that don’t sound great with any speaker. I’m assuming “restore” means you repaired the disintegrated cone on the woofer. The hard part with that, I learned, is attaching the cone to the frame with enough flexibility allowing the right amount of movement. Too much and it might be noisy or get damaged. Too little and you lose all low end. Since you want good sound, maybe buy a pair of the speakers that others have used and try it. They shouldn’t cost too much and you can sell them on this site if you don’t want them. If the tweeter is too harsh, cover it with something or attach a resistor to it like I did.

Correct, I repaired the disintegrated cone with this method.

Copy on the tweeter and look at other speaker options.

Ah, I see. Having that mold looks like it makes things easier. Still a tricky job that I wouldn't want to try again. After all that work of making a mold and rebuilding the cones, you definitely need to keep the stock speakers.
I tested them with my CPS2 game and they sound pretty good. I'm going to stick with them for now. Thank you for all your help!

Bump for this thread regarding Blast City bezel fitment when your monitor is in the vertical orientation. There are spacers which can be removed (Item 29 below - HOT-1125) which. this will bring the locking mechanism closer to the surface of the cabinet. based on the positioning of the screws, you may have to pull the entire assembly off to get at them. or you need a small right angle phillips head and patience.

Are you saying you had the same problem I had, and removing the spacers fixed it? It's been a while since I looked at that and can't remember exactly which way I needed to press on those tabs to force the bezel to lock in place. I remember the bezel sticking way out away from the monitor at the bottom and needing to press hard on it while pressing the tabs to force it together. I haven't dared touch it since.

i did not remove the spacers either, but pressed the bezel into place while adding pressure on the tabs to force it in.

removing the spacers would position the tabs closer to the bezel position which would allow the bezel to pop into place more easily. I'll be honest, removing the spacer is a big pain in the ass so i haven't *actually* done it yet.

but YES, the bezel fittment issue is always there with the stock monitor in vertical orientation from my experience. i have 6 Blasts at this time and many others in the past, all similar.
