What's new
so, @Niko.... Anything new on the horizon for this project?
Yes, I made some changes to the front end, and added some features. I'm about ready to release a new versions which will be 1.2. I decided to skip 1.1 completely to try an prevent confusion.

1.2 will revert back to using the stock GPU driver.

I'm changing the focus of this project. I want to provide a clean and pure solution for playing official TypeX2 games. You will still be able to play the none TypeX2 games that where ported in the past, and if someone wants to port other games, they are more than free to do so. But officially I'm just going to focus on running the official games on the official hardware ( give or take a video card ;) ).

With that said, I have a regular TypeX on the way and will be releasing a TypeX multi as well. The same software will run on both systems, they will just have different drive images and officially supported games.

Most of the TypeX games have official Nesica releases for the TypeX2 so eventually when I release those, the TypeX will only really be useful for TTGM3 which didnt get a Nesica release.

On a side note, for those of you who have been asking for vertical support in the multi. How often would you be switching between horizontal and vertical configurations?

regarding the vertical usage. In my case the vertical configuration would be installed in a tate cab.

Actually my plan was to use my TX1 in vertical mode in the cab (removing the horizontal games) and my TX2s will be exclusively horizontal (deleting the vertical games)

The reason I was asking, it would be much easier to just create a drive image specifically for vertical setups. Trying to rotate the screen programatically is a pain.

I have a dedicated tate cabinet, so I would use a vertical multi release.

I use one TTX2 in a Vertical Cab and the 2nd TTX2 in a Horizontal Cab.

Good call - totally agree on keeping it original, getting the originals, and running them, is big enough of a task in itself. Original all the way!

It's a lot harder work to rotate a monitor than to switch a harddrive - so doing something like rotating the desktop on a dedicated vertical image is totally fine + you won't have much user confusion. Everything (++) in one is for OCD hoarders, dedicated images for original hori/vert is for people who will actually play games on their cabs.

Hello, i will use THIS and 2 drives, in 2 cabs, a vertical menu would be great (maybe an option to turn on inside the settings menu ?).
Another nice feature would be to have a text box, displaying the plot of each game, or advices to play...

I am trying to put Crimzon Clover, steam version, but controls only work with a ps2 keyboard, can someone explain how to make jvs work ? i supose it will be same thing with other games for windows ?

Thanks a lot !

One option to rotate the vertical games 45º would be fantastic! always I have my monitor horizontally.

I like the dedication to TTX and TTX2 games :D

When the time is right maybe it would be possible to scale the menu to 480x480 and use a button to rotate it seamlessly.

For the TTX2 there are not a lot of tate games but the TTX has quite a few.

And for the people reading, we need a proper image of TGM3 and Samurai Shodown (English), all existing images are hacked to oblivion...

Today I have installed the E8400 CPU unfortunately the TTX2 starts not more.It goes on and after 1 second he shut down.
Can it be that the E8400 CPU needs too much power ? or the CPU can be fault, the seller says no hi musst work.
Is it sure that the E8400 CPU must work in the TTX2 ?
I have installed the old CPU back and now everything works again.
So i think i try to buy a Q6600 CPU.

The north bridge chip set on the X2 mobo does NOT support 1333 MHz FSB cpus (like the E8400 CPU).

In Arcadeotaku, Jackalus says he put an Q6600 quad core, and 4gigs ddr2...

I have a Pentium 4 662 3.60GHZ processor that I'm going to test out on the X2. I've successly ran the X2 with an Intel Core 2 Duo E6400. Didn't notice any issues, but I was only playing BlazBlue and Street Fighter at the time.

FWIIW: the Q6600 is a 1066 MHz FSB cpu.

Here, enjoy: http://ark.intel.com/products/27732/Intel-82Q965-Graphics-and-Memory-Controller

Btw, let me know if you find out if the game apps you guys are running support multi-core threading and load balancing.

Tried a 6400 (2x 2.13) 5mn ago (had the p4 3.4), in Crimzon Clover, no difference in the shown fps...

So, should work with an E6700, thx Tyranix95.

All core 2 duo E6xxx and prior CPUs should work. (may need beefier cooling for some of the Pentium based dual cores)

Havent tested but may work are E7xxx CPUs with a 1066 FSB. ill try and get this tested by months end.

Any CPU with a FSB higher than 1066mhz is guaranteed to not work eg. E8xxx and newer.

For mame the E7600 will be the best suited. it has a decent clock speed (3ghz) while being a newer core 2 duo architecture.

As it stands the q6600 isn't a very good choice for a TX2 build even for mame. it does have better performance over the stock p4 in mame but only marginally %15 - %25 (eyeballed figures).
Where a higher clocked more efficient core 2 duo (E7600) should in theory give better performance.

In the future once i test a few more CPUs i'll make a new thread and give some real performance stats of the CPUs.

Ok, so just tried an E7500/1066fsb, with Niko's multi, it passes the bios "bip" then black screen (type x2 logo apears longer than with the others cpu), with a original game, get's stuck in the type x2 logo, progression bar at 80%. Something to do in the bios ? (didn't have to when i go from p4 to 6400)

About mame in the type x2... any "how to" somewhere ? :whistling: :)

Myself, not that much since I have dedicated cabs for both orientations, but the feature to be able to switch back and forth would be very nice to have.
