What's new
Yes I'm sure I could run races, and the part where you groom the horse and i remember throwing carrots at the horse, or into a bucket. It was a lot of screens of Japanese text, so i used to just wing my way through the buttons, but i'm certain i was able to run races and do that.
yes, but you can't progress the game when offline.
to my knowledge, with no connection you only may play with no game card, or use new/empty cart to enter your initial data and play game once. next time you use this card game will tell it needs to be online to continue game progress.
Wish i'd taken a pic of how the card reader was hooked up.
card R/W unit was connected to CN3 connector

I also didn't use cards, so I was probably able to just start up a game and screw around, but never progress like you said. I just used to mash around on the buttons a little.
I see

Around 2010 I collected anything and everything i could find Atomiswave.
that's pretty cool :)

As for the card reader. On the Atomiswave SD cabinet, the card reader connects to RF. I have the card reader and the extention cable in my cab, but there's nothing in the cab to plug it in to. I'm curious what you need in the SD cab to make it work. If i'm missing a piece from my cab?
depends on game - in AW-Net games (GGIsuka, KOF NW, NGBC) card readers should be wired to "4 player" box, in Net@Select games (Salaryman and Furlong) card reader wired directly to AW mobo, CN3

btw, can you tell us card reader model / part number ? should be Maxell-something

It seems to me with all of this recent progress on the NAOMI front, it would make creating a NAOMI multi-cart that much easier as several things people wanted in the cart are already here.

:D

Maybe true, but I look at it this way, if someone was already working on it, these recent developments would make it easier now that those issues are out of the way, because any multi cart would have had to fix those anyway.

Getting rid of the need to net boot with a net dimm, no extra power supply, and an on screen menu would be a huge deal that would allow anyone to easily run a NAOMI system.

As it is now, it's complicated, confusing, cumbersome, and expensive.

The NAOMI motherboards are cheap and plentiful.

If those aren't ripe conditions for a successful multi cart, I don't know what would be.

For what it is worth, a Naomi multi cart would almost certainly be hundreds of dollars more expensive than a net DIMM + Raspbery Pi. Maybe it could address your other complaints though.

still would buy it as would many others :)

I love the NAOMI and have a full setup in my Jamma cab, this really wouldn't be for me, but for the new users.

And like PascalP says, I'd still buy one.

:D

Since the NAOMI is getting all this attention has anyone made up a list of which games that do not have a netboot / cf solution ?

Yes you do still need the extra PSU as a Capcom IO don't got the juice.

so you will still need the extra PSU...
You don't need a extra PSU, just an extra cable IF you already have a 3.3V line on your PSU and IF it supply enough power.

you mean the naomi usa region of rhe Atomiswave one? Why would you change the Atomiswave region when you have a separate setting for the language?

I just changed the area of the game inside the service menu of the game. On the Naomi NetBoot System Setup. I changed both because I saw the area setting first and then also changed to English as well.

I have this version here.came with the system

I had this issue on my official bios. What I did was entered the test menu one more time, and immediately quit out. It booted like normal, AND in English!

I managed to replicate this and get error 22 after the title screen on the North America region.

I would say that if you want the game in English just keep it on the Japan region and set the language to English instead, there is no need to change the region, that said, after investigating further it seems to be a rom issue where assets are missing for the North American region. The Europe region works however.
