not sure if that possible, iirc there will be needed to do "hacky wiring" directly to FPGA's BGA pad, which is barely doable at practice
I thought it was on the outermost pads of the BGA, but otherwise yeah that doesn't seem feasible really.

(Regarding price, I'd easily pick this up for 2500$ + shipping just to dump it)

Thanks For your understanding,I will tell if I know it's original or conversion or bootleg,I also take pictures for each pcb,I don't want to cheat anyone, it's not Good for me.I Can not do "lose credit to make a little money",this will push me to a Wall.

@LinkArcade Here is a way to loose money and gain back some credit. Or if you have contact with the seller still, maybe see about releasing the dump into the wild and save @buffi the hassle.

Damn it buffi, I was trying to get it at a lower price to dump the roms and release them into the wilds :D
Yeah, it might be frowned upon by some but it will happen eventually, and its better to prepare and point out these conversions and make people aware of them so they know what to look for.
Collectors will still pay good prices for originals regardless.

I also like it can be public emulate, but I paid a higher price about 3800usd three years ago,if it's for the dump project,I can give it to him cheaply.

I say this, name your price to sell it to get the roms dumped for "preservation" sake.

Example, if its $2500, 25 members can chip in $100 a piece to buy it and it gets sent to one of the trusted members here in the community to safely dump the ROMs without damaging the board, and then we hold a raffle for the members that donated to see who "wins" to keep the board itself. win, win, win. Just a thought.

If it's 2500$ i'd rather pay it and send it to someone trusted for dumping, and then just restore it to DFK afterwards, without having to get anyone else involved. Paying money like that for roms is a bit sketchy imo.

edit: I have all the tools for dumping this already myself as well, but i'd obviously check if there's someone else that's better suited at doing it first. Assume that if a rom shows up, I was not responsible for it.

Sounds good to me brother

Just an option depending on what price @LinkArcade had in mind for it.

Let's hope so. Payment is sent, so we'll see how this turns out.
Probably good to keep discusson limited. I'm open to PM's if anyone is curious about anything.
Like beer preference or how dumb I am

If you want to dump it i'm curious why you would dump a conversion that might be altered or corrupted. You can't verify unless you have a clean dump to verify against, in which case you wouldnt need to dump this anyway.

Maybe, simply because he can/wants to?!
Maybe he has access to the original roms or someone that does and wants to compare them, etc..they could be a different version?
I see quite a few reasons to dump these, so.....

I would have bought it just to dump it and sold the board afterward.

not a problem. quite many of CV1K dumps in MAME are conversions, and contained some origin game data leftovers (which was removed/cleaned later, after dump analysis). these conversions was made by Cave themselves, but I'm not sure if there is real/practical difference who was doing it...

I see, I didn't really consider that SDOJ is still considered a recent-ish release. Don't get me wrong, as much as I shit on cave and exa, I do hope for their success, I just hope that Exa-Arcadia gets a foothold in the US, maybe if it gets picked up by Round 1 USA. I tried emailing them about carrying it last night actually, still waiting to hear back.

Also Link, I may have assumed malice, if you truly didn't know, I apologize for my remark.
as it stands, exa is just overpriced mobile and steam ports. the cheapest game is... a slightly modified free NES homebrew bundled with virtuanes emulator

it's still too new. if you look at when other CV1K games made their way into MAME it wasn't until they were 10+ years old and SDOJ hasn't hit that mark yet.
Also the release of the EXA version might extend it a bit as they don't want to potentially hurt the earning potential of the new release.

The people that dump these games are often concerned about preservation and posterity. At a certain age that means a public release of that dump, but if you care about the preservation of arcades that also means NOT releasing games that could potentially damage the developer who is still using that property to stay in operation.
considering the board in OP exists, I have doubts that it's dumped for "preservation" and rather quick bucks, but I don't know much about arcade videogames...

So much this, I had to have this conversation with someone recently who though that absolutely everything should be freely accessible to everyone. People leaking day 1 APM3 games has absolutely no positive benefit. Doesn't matter if we don't like big corporations and what they do with their money, it's still someone's labor that produced stuff to be enjoyed. If it all goes freely available with tools to run however you want the moment it releases, why would anyone develop anything else? The health of the industry and hobby isn't worth some asshole with an XArcade stick being able to play Virtua Fighter eSports for 10 minutes on release and throwing it aside. People don't like being told something exists and they can't have it, nor do they like other people in the community "policing" data/cracks, but that exists for a reason. We all have our opinions on the matter, but from either end, have to consider that some of us are very aware of the after-effects of new data going public. Not everyone can know everything that goes on and understand why there has to be some standard of ethics with this stuff

I agree with you and Twisted on this, not everything can be made available on day one, etc... I know how certain releases can do a lot of damage industry-wide and beyond, it all trickles down even if you don't notice it right away.

There are so many variables to consider when releasing stuff like this. There could be arguments back and forth for the longest time debating the subject. How/when/where & what do you release? Who gets to decide? Usually, stuff like this gets put up to a community vote whether to be released or it magically appears somewhere or not. I personally stopped dumping a lot of the stuff I have, it's just not worth the hassle of the back and forth for me. If someone needs something they can ask me though if I can help I will.

Sound ROMs can't be re-flashed without removing them from the PCB so if there is evidence of re-work on them (like shiny new solder and flux residue) then that's a red flag. (and appears to be the case on this PCB)
Some left the factory like that too. black labels etc.
