Two ideas:

1) Your SRAM module could be faulty. Run the memtest from the main menu for an hour and see if any errors are logged.

2) Your SD card could be corrupted. Try another freshly formatted card and see if the behavior changes.

Just ran the memtest for 90 minutes with no errors. Still doing the same thing with SSF2T. Going to try a different, smaller microSD card next.

No luck. Tried a different microSD card (32GB rather than 64GB - both SanDisk) and still got the glitches. First couple times it loaded fine, but then on the third load the same exact glitches appeared. Again, this is only on Super Street Fighter 2 and Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. All other games I tried (including various random CPS2 games) loaded perfectly without issue.

I'm stumped.

After some more experimenting, I think the issue relates to the MiSTer.ini file.

I went through a fresh install/format of my SD card and did the entire setup up until adding the MiSTer.ini (for my 15kHz arcade CRT). Connected via HDMI, I was able to load SSF2T perfectly fine 10 times in a row without any problems.

After adding the 15kHz-YOKO MiSTer.ini file, the glitches/flickering came back for SSF2T.

I tried this experiment twice as follows:
1) After adding the INI file, I powered the MisterCade up in my arcade cabinet. Upon the first load of SSF2T, the glitchy/flickering was present.
2) After adding the INI file, I set the bootcore to lastcore, and connected it to my HDMI display and used the Nano DE-10 power supply. First load of SSF2T was good. Powered it off and back on. Second load of SSF2T had the gliches/flickering.

Since this occurs regardless of what display or power supply I'm using, I can only hypothesize that it has to do with the INI file somehow.

Hmm ... I'll have to see if I can reproduce it with my setup. Any ideas @misteraddons ?

Did some more testing and can confirm that all 15kHz INI files exhibit this bug/issue. I might capture a video of it off the HDMI.

This is a major bummer because it's the only arcade game that seems to have this issue and, ironically, is the main game I was planning on running in my Big Blue cabinet. I guess it's good that I didn't ditch the Darksoft CPS2 Multi after all :(

I'm currently going through all of the CPS2 games to see if there are any other problematic games. Will report back.

UPDATE: I got through every other CPS2 game and none had any issues.

Very strange. I'll try it out with my MiSTercade setup tonight and see if the same thing happens with me.

UPDATE: I believe I've figured this out and resolved the issue.

It occurred to me that every time I've ran into this issue with the glitches/flickering, I had loaded SSF2T first after powering on the MisterCade. I realized this as I was testing out all of the CPS2 games. During that testing, I got down the list of CPS2 games and tried SSF2T. It loaded and ran perfectly. So it got me thinking -- what would happen if I loaded a different game first and THEN try SSF2T. So I turned off the MisterCade, then powered it back on and fired up X-Men vs SF. I let that run for about 20 seconds and then tried SSF2T. It ran perfectly again. I tried it a few more times with the same result. If I tried to run SSF2T right away upon power up of the MisterCade, I'd almost always get the same issues. So it made me wonder if perhaps SSF2T just needs the MisterCade to "warm up a little"

Since I have the bootcore set to "lastcore" and I want SSF2T to autoload, I decided to test my theory and change the default timeout time from 10 seconds to the max of 30 seconds. I powered up the MisterCade, let it do its thing and load SSF2T after the 30 second timeout. It loaded perfectly without issues. I repeated this 5 times and the results were perfect every time.

So, as of now, I'm calling this resolved. (*knock on wood*). I guess SSF2T just needs a little more time? :)

Various games for me are in the wrong orientation for my TATE setup. Any advice on adding that config file to flip the Namco and other games that are 180 to the rest? I added it to the mister folder but not sure if I did it right.

180 degree flipping is handled on a core-by-core basis. If a particular core doesn’t support flipping in its menu options then there’s not much you can do except ask the MiSTer’s developers to add it.

The MiSTercade’s config file handles flipping the Menu screen and setting the correct output resolution - it doesn’t affect rotation inside game cores.

Namco rotates their games the opposite of most others. So it's not a mistake, it's faithful to the game. And if the core doesn't support it that's because the original game didn't.

Okay thanks @Aurich and @ShootTheCore I thought @misteraddons had done some magic with these files …

I’m still not clear on what those files do-I haven’t used them in my tate MiSTercade setup. Try one and see I guess…. :D

My assumption is that they enable the flip option that’s already included on that core.
