What's new
Would be possible to create a multi sega model 2 and 3 once the roms of all games founded or is it too complicated?

Bought a Daytona USA 2 full stack from China. I was expecting Battle on the Edge, but it's actually a Power Edition. Too bad, I actually wanted BotE (the beginner course is stupid Nascar shit on PE).

Anyway, surprise surprise, it didn't have a security board at all. Here are the hacked program roms (IC17-20):

https://mega.nz/file/oi4HhI5R#CKWo51PfQrNPwcVSheV7bN9_n28nEjVuDtiIY89BSFo

Didn't notice any bugs on a quick test. It passes the rom tests and everything.

Unlike some other Model 3 games, this is a perfectly viable eprom conversion. The mask roms are at most 32 MBit (so 27C322). If you're converting from BotE, all of the 41 chips will have to be replaced.

That version you've is STEP 2.0 or 2.1?Thanks

is it possible to hacked hex file for 16/9 widescreeb ratio for model 2/3 car games?

To me we could use MAME to decrypt the game and then re-inject the decrypted code in the program ROMs.
I didn't think it was possible to make a decrypted rom using MAME. Are you using MAME's debugger? I'm so curious.

You are replying to a post from 5 years ago :P

Apocalypse has also left the forums, so you will not get a reply from them.

I have had a Daytona Usa 2 Power Edition for about two years now,
the strange thing is that it doesn't have a security board at all and the game works even without it, only no sound. output (CN7, CN notworked at all.
When checking the memory test, it said that (ic 17,18,19,20) are bad.
So I downloaded (thanks to Nem) a decrypted rom from Nem and (epr 21325)burn(https://www.buyicnow.com/). The epr arrived very quickly is china, about 9 days.
When I inserted the Decrypted Epr, the check was successful. ic 17,18,19,20 are now fine, but still no sound.
Then I inserted new epr 21325 and suddenly the sound works (finally).
When the game does not use the security board, it starts within a few seconds.

Thanks Nem

Hi,

Has anyone tried hacking a Sega model 2 Drive board?

I have a Sega rally twin cabin, which is fully functional.
I often play Sega model 3 games on it (Scud race, Daytona, Sega rally 2, Le mans 24, Sega Touring car, etc.).
The connectors are exactly the same, they just plug into other CN ports.

And you must have the voltage source adjusted to Model 3 (3.3V).

The steering wheel, gas, Coin compartment, VR light (flashing), coin counter, speed stick and, in some games, the Billboard also work.
The only thing that doesn't work is Driveboard.(Model 3 Games)
DriveBoard Sega rally (model 2) uses EPR 17891.
Supermodel Emulator Model 3, uses EPR 19338A,
Which he uses for the games Scud race, Dirt Devils, Le Mans 24, etc.

I had the EPR 19338A recorded on the AM27C512 and I want to try to put it in Driveboard Sega Rally.
I know that there are different variations of Driveboard.

Model 2A uses a clutch
Model 2C uses only motor
Model 3 is another Drveboard.

Has anyone tried it?

I'll let you know if it works..

Where did you get the decrypted roms?
I have a Daytona 2 BOTE with a broken security board and would be good to be able to run it again.

Hi

The Daytona Usa 2 Power Edition is here.

https://mega.nz/file/oi4HhI5R#CKWo51PfQrNPwcVSheV7bN9_n28nEjVuDtiIY89BSFo

But it will only work on the version (Power Edition)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
You have the Daytona Usa 2 Bote version, it won't work.:(

It only works on the Daytona 2 Power Edition.

The rom has not yet been decrypted the Bote version

Edit.

I tried it and this eprom from the emulator is not compatible with the Driveboard Model 2 at all.
After inserting it into the Driveboard, it does nothing at all, not even a self-test (rotation, left and right) after starting the machine.
Only the original epprom works properly and only with the original game Sega Rally..

One of my best friends in Australia bought me a Model 3 Step 2 ROM Board as a Christmas gift, which was originally Virtua Striker 2 Ver. '99. I plan to set this up as possibly Sega Rally 2, Emergency Call Ambulance, or Dirt Devils (if I can find a security chip for the latter two games). Do any of these require any 64MB ROM chips to burn? I heard a few Step 2.1 games like SpikeOut do. A fellow here did an FV2 conversion with Andy Geezer's decrypted ROMs and didn't need a 64MB chip.

The mame driver will tell you the rom sizes, but you'll need to download them anyway so you could just look at the files on disk too. When you see a rom load entry the first set of numbers is the offset and the second is the size:

e.g. ROM_LOAD64_WORD_SWAP( "mpr-20602.1", 0x800006, 0x400000, CRC(60cfa72a) SHA1(2cb9e16d50979461d39e0493273ee38d23900b45) )

0x400000 is the size = 4096kb = 32mbits.

None of those have 0x800000 = 64mbit that i noticed.

Very helpful information. Looking at the driver, it seems the only games that use 64MB chips are Ocean Hunter, the BOTE version of Daytona 2, and both Spikeout games.
27C160 and 27C322 are likely all I need, judging from ROM sizes.

Seems like Daytona 2 PE (with nem's decrypted ROMs), SR2, Harley, and Ski Champ would be the easiest Step 2 games to convert to this without a security chip.
Andy Geezer told me the Emergency Call Ambulance prototype didn't use one but unfortunately it doesn't boot in Supermodel so IDK what the differences are to the final game. Would love to know, however.
