What's new
Settings for freeplay in Naomi are buried under coin assignments in the test menu iirc its the very last coin configuration like number 23 or something
I found it. Does this apply to all games or just the current one you are playing?

It should apply to all games since the coincell battery on the motherboard saves the settings after shutdown.

I'm a little late to the discussion but if anyone's curious, there's a Sega blessed way to reconfigure buttons with the 605-0028 harness. It plugs into the 1p, 2p, and extra button connectors and then just passes em through to the same connectors for your control panel to plug into. I THINK the default configuration is for using a 6 button panel with 4,5,6 on the 10 pin, and it moves 4 and 5 to the main connector. You could always repin them or create your own similar harnesses for different games. It's a lot easier imo to swap these in and out than moving button wires around.

That said, those rotary dials are pretty nice.

I just got my Alberto panel and I love it. I noticed there is no ground post on it though. How are those who have his panel grounding the cabinet from the control panel?

Need to swap out my battery I think. It won't remember my FreePlay settings. Is it true this battery dies super fast though? Thought I saw another thread about a mod to keep that a battery-powered even after shutdown so you never lose high scores and can keep the last game you played in memory.

Still doesn’t appear to save the free play setting. Does free play not save after a power down?

You using a net dimm? Because my Net dimm DOES NOT save that setting either. Regular cart does. High Scores too.

Yes I am. It seems to save it but only if I restart the machine within about 60 seconds. Checked voltage on my new batteries and they were 3.28 V.

Update : didn’t realize atomiswave had a different service menu. Seems to work sometimes and others not.

Will do more testing and report back.

the netdimm has a 3 pin header under a plastic cover where two Li-ON rechargeable cells store the game that was last booted, as well as the settings for that game.

If your dimm doesn't have that then it won't save the game that was loaded when it was booted, and the settings for that game.

here's some info on what I'm talking about, and how to add it back to the netdimm.
