No.

The wipi image uses @DragonMinded’s tools to seriously destroy other solutions.

You can NetBoot multiple DIMMs from one pi, you can specify which game to boot by default when the netdimm connects to the lan.. and many MANY others.

It also can update over the internet, provided it has a connection.

It’s so rad.
Awesome! Am I able to choose my game from my phone? It does have a nice front end with like video previews and artwork too?

Yup. You can run games, watch previews of game play all on your phone! Super sickkkk
Thanks Chunk!!!!

Found my Pi 3. Can I set this up with no screen and totally do everything from my phone? Do I have to switch networks or do I just setup the pi on the network i prefer to have my phone connected to at home? 2.4 ghz and 5.2 ghz

Yes, you can. Use hdd raw copy tool or baleena etcher to image the sd card install it and follow the directions in the manual to use it :) it’s so freaking easy.

I’m going to be netbooting 4 netdimms with one pi because of this. It’s seriously badass.

So I got the WiPi to work. I got a game to boot. But the problem is when I change it from WiFi Hotspot to WiFi Direct mode on the Pi I can no longer access netbooter.local

I tried changing wireless networks, maybe im choosing 5ghz instead of 2ghz

My router sees a device called NETBOOTER 10.0.0.51 but I can connect to it. Tried a million times.

Before I changed it the Pi said the Wired Address was 10.0.0.1 and the Wireless 192.168.42.1 but those didnt work either.

Im so close lol. It shows the device is allowed on my router and i tried to set a static IP to 10.0.0.51 but that didnt work either.

If you’re on your home wifi You can’t even go to http://10.0.0.51 to hit the NetBoot page?

Is your home’s network on the 10.0.0.x network, or is it a different subnet altogether?

If you’re going to do wifi direct then the pi will need to have an address in your home network’s subnet, and you should connect to your home network to access it.

10.0.0.1 for the Pi Ethernet and 10.0.0.2 for the net dimm address worked as far as adding the net dimm successfully to netbooter.local.

But it seems when I set a static IP using the network interfaces file for the wireless on the pic I can’t access anything.

Also tried setting NetDimm to 192.168.0.1 and Naomi 2 to 192.168.0.2 with no luck. It won’t even show the NetDimm as online.

So at this point I just want DHCP to do the work.

I tried removing the # in front of the DHCP entry and add it to the static ip entry but that didn’t work.

Here is my interfaces file. Any suggestion on how to edit it so I can use DHCP for the wifi pi address?

My routers address btw is 10.0.0.1 do I also need to modify the gateway section to 10.0.0.1?

Here is how things were setup when it worked last night

Netgear Router is 10.0.0.1
Almost all home devices start with 10.0.0.X

Naomi Net Dimm is 10.0.0.2
Pi is 10.0.0.1

Network Setup under netbooter.local said
Wireless IP 192.168.0.109/24 (DHCP)
Wired IP : 10.0.0.1 /24

I don't think you can run the Naomi <-> RPi on the same network as your WiFi...
When you tried the 192.168.0.X, you set those parameters on your NetDimm first, right?

Yes I think I’ll try again

Yeah same issue I change it on the Naomi Net Dimm to 192.168.0.2 and it cant find it.
Then when I scan for dimms under manage dimms it tries to scan 192.168.42.1 /24. So I also tried 192.168.42.2 and was gonna try 192.168.42.1 for the Pi.

What is the correct way to update the static IP on the Pi? From the network interfaces file or from Network Setup -> Wired Setup on the netboot.local (pi)?

Yes, you can. I do it in my arcade.

Acordi g to your config. Your router and the RPi have the same address. That isn’t good. if your wifi router/gateway is 10.0.0.1, the RPi needs to be 10.0.0.2 (if it’s not taken), the netdim needs to be any other address if it’s open.

You can then run the netdimm discover in the RPi image to locate it.

what is the proper way to change the IP address of the Pi?

i thought since the net dim and pi are hardwired together that is a separate network so there could be duplicate addresses as long as its not the same network. Or is the wifi bridging them. Idk lol. thanks for your patience im tearing my hair out.

------

Also just to clarify the Pi is connected directly to the net dimm. nothing is plugged into the router.

I think if I can set the pi to 192.168.0.1
The net dimm to 192.168.0.2
The wireless pi to something on the 10.0.0.x range

I would be ok. I just don’t get what the proper way to set the IP address of the Pi (seems like multiple ways none of which work for me) or how to try to set the wireless pi address to specific static one or DHCP

Is it normal for it to search 192.168.42.1 like in my screenshot? Other times it has searched 192.168.0.1 I think.

Also on the NetDimm scanner what determines the IP ranges that get scanned?

The others with arrows is this where I edit the Pi’s static IP for Ethernet and Wifi?

Main issue is everyone keeps telling me to the change the Pi’s Ethernet and or wifi address as well as selecting DHCP or static but no one has told me the correct way to do those things. The methods I’m trying don’t seem to work.

Do you have your wired and wireless backwards?
Your wireless is running 10.0.X.X right?
Screenshots above are showing the reverse?

Disclaimer, network settings really hurt my head...

If you connect the physical interface of the RPi to your wired network, it needs to be on the same network as your gateway.

This way it doesn’t conflict with anything and is reachable.

The netdimm should be on this same network as well.

The wifi address for the RPi should be on a different network address scheme from your home wired/wireless network.

I get the impression he's got the ethernet cable directly between the pi and net dimm, and is trying to access the pi from his phone on his wifi network.

Is this a valid configuration? I don't actually use one of these.
