We're all holding our breath for this. This project is a game changer for collectors. Who knows? It may even help drive down the price of AES games a bit, which is a big part of why the NEO GEO is on the periphery of true obscurity for most game collectors.

this will be awesome darksoft, instant buy for me.
dont know how long it will take to produce full working finished product.
only you will know how long it will take,do we speak of year or years?
i will read it when you give us more info this month.
i can imagine its not that simple,i wish you succes and you can count me in for a card.
keep up the good work.

There's no way AES prices are going to go down. People collect AES carts to be shelf queens. Their rarity isn't going to be impacted by a multi-cart. If anything, it'll make certain AES/MVS games even more sought-after.

And besides, CPS2 prices were not affected at all. If anything it made common boards go up in price for donor use.

Yeah, the same happened with CPS3, prices only went up.

In any case time frame will be a couple of months, let's say May, june.

I'm working on a piece of code that would allow people to update the firmware in the multi via a file in the microSD. If that file exists, it will update if not, it will work as usual.

That would require a lot of time and testing, so I'll probably try to make it work con CPS2 first. I'm still unsure if that's even possible.

Brilliant news on the in game menu and updated via micro sd ,Can't wait for this great project to be in my hand's,will love my AES even more

Dont know if it's been talked about but on the 120-in-1 boot if you hard dip 4 & 5 then an alternate menu let you change the difficulty for eaxch game. Then you turn off, dip back done.

Darksoft will you be doing any kind of preorders on this? Because again, this is something I just want to throw money at the computer screen to make sure I get one and help the process along. :)

They try not to pre order. There's no pressure so nothing is rushed for a due date.

Once it's ready, orders will be taken and filled.

Some ideas for the next multi neo geo (sorry if ideas was already posted) :

- allow to play neo geo CD game on MVS Cartridge (just to the pleasure to play Scotland course on Neo Turf :) )
- as per cps2, boot the cartridge on the last game loaded in the cart and allow this to use in a multimvs 2-4
- and for my dream (but i guess it's impossible) : emulate the rotation of games as per multi slot MVS4 on a slot MVS1 :)

Hello!

The current design concept that I'm testing is the following:

Cartridge with one big FPGA and normal computer DIMMs DDR2, it will be able to hold 4 games. I'm checking if this makes sense from a cost/playbility point of view. If that's the case I can install a battery so it will hold in the DDR the last game loaded for a period of time (similar to mobile phones, so a week or so).

As this can hold 4 games, you can basically switch games like you would on a MVS 4-slot having a normal 1-slot.

What do you guys thinks?

This is basically what I recommended, lile it. :)

How many pins ford the fpga have?

I think I love this project more and more.

However, I don't know if people are ready to pay more juste for this option, but I'm definitely ready !
using the pins 26-D to change the game as per MVS2-4 will be awesome.

Im cool with this, any idea how the games will be loaded to the memory yet?

What do you mean with that?
There are a couple of options that other multis don't have:
* you can play ALL Games, old, new and even your custom hacks.
* it converts your MVS1 in a MVS4 slot
* It has very low loading game, so makes it similar to existing multis based on OTP Roms.

What other options do you think it shouldh have?

Sounds pretty nifty, but I guess rules out the AES compatibility?

I probably can source DDR2 (work for a tech company, so spare ram lying around all over the place) but I wonder how generally available/cheap it is these days...

Would it be able to also mimic the marquee lights for games 1-4? If so, would it be some kind of custom solution or could it work with the original EL panel hardware?

It was concerning this point, i think this extra-cost (if i'm understand what you said) is necessary to built the best multi-mvs and i'm totally ready to pay more for all the features (you maybe understand the contrary, excuse my bad english :) ).
