Blast City / Astro City / Astro City 2 / NNC - Restorations

I cant remember where I put my screws for my second Astro City 2 chassis. Anyone recall what size these are? Specifically the ones that secure the chassis to the monitor bracket frame thingy. When I got my new phone I didn't realize I should probably transfer all the pics I took of stuff plugged in as I can't remember how things were plugged in lol but i'll figure it out. Want to get my second tube and chassis to PNL to try a rejuvenator so I can finally use that burn free tube I have.

I don’t have that exact chassis to compare but a lot of those screws appear on various Nanao and Toshiba chassis I believe. They’re not a typical M4 say, but a different thread that I assume just self-taps into plastic and metal. Here’s a spare I had.

Thanks for always going the extra mile to help with my questions!

I hitup John from PNL to see if he can try to rejuvenate my MS-8 that i got from yaton but wouldnt fire red. Plan on taking it down there this week. If it is a lost cause I guess I can see if he has any use for it or if he can locate me another MS8-29 monitor. Or maybe he can calibrate \ fix the convergence issues on my existing one. Either way i need to make some progress on my long forgotten Astro 2 in terms of that and repainting the speaker cover \ housing that i screwed up when i spray painted it.

Made the drive out to see John at PNL. Initial tests showed the tube firing red which I was not expecting. Having removed the yoke and the rings getting moved around will make this more challenging. But I did want to see if anything is possible and if not cut my losses with this tube.

I haven't been to his new location since the big fire. Is he in an office building now?

Is there a list of the all the CRT with the proper curvature to fit the Astro?

I am not sure but John did specifically mention that was the challenge is finding ones that match the curve properly. My chassis i believe is a MS8-29FSG and the tube was Toshiba. Not sure if that's how Astro City 2's normally come? Or if it's normally Nanao tube as well.

According to Arcade Otaku, these tubes are ok for the MS8\9:

A68KJU96X (Toshiba)
A68KSA30X (Hitachi)
M68JUA068X (Matsushita)

The Toshiba and Hitachi one are good for sure for AC\NAC, I never have seen the Matsushita out in the wild.

There are maybe a Thomson (Thomson 28DG17E) and a Grundig (EU Megatron ST 72-762 use Toshiba A68KZN696X01 which shuld be ok, anyone can confirm?) consumer tubes, but I'm not 100% sure.

Wow! I have not gone to pickup the chassis yet but received these images today that it is all done. Plan on returning tomorrow to pick it up. I may need to try to see if anyone on here wants the old tube as I don't really have the space to store one at the moment. Other one has convergence issues and burn-in but maybe someone would have an interest. Fingers crossed I have no issues with reinstallation of this one.

When pulling old tube out one of the remote board connectors got stuck on the chassis side :/

kinda bent the connector hope I didn’t damage it.

New tube was blurry at first but adjusted gains and focus and screen and it’s looking pretty good so far.
