Cave CV1000 3D printed cases

This is a great case. Thanks for sharing the model. There is one outlier pcb, mushihimesama, that has the vga port populated:

Should be pretty easy for me to make an adjustment for this, can you measure the height of the dsub connector?

These are CAVE pcbs guys, let's not do that. All the mushi 1's have them. I don't think it actually does anything but it's populated for some reason. ?(
If we're being fair, you're hiding it in an enclosure, no one would ever know WHAT PCB it is. So they wouldn't know the connector was missing anyway.

I see your point. I just don't like the idea of removing components to have it fit better in an enclosure. If I were to sell it on at some point, I'd prefer it to be as it came from the factory. Just as if I were to buy one second-hand if there were two available to choose from, I'd choose the one with all the components attached.

It’s technically a serial communications port - maybe Cave had plans for linking two boards together early on. It’s definitely deadweight in the final release of Mushi though.

I think you're taking Xtra and I more seriously than we are.

Please don't forget to make a version with extra tall serial comm port hole please!!! :D

My man, you are so nervous for NO reason. Just watch my simple Cave PCB repair video, made just for you. @buffi can suck it, his repair threads are SOOOO long, no one can follow that shit. Mine are under 4 minutes and get you everything you need to be up and running in no time, IF you have the right tools of course.

I didn't watch the video, but I did see the thumbnail and I approve of the choice of tool. Little tap on the Altera works most of the time in my experience.

Don't watch it, apparently it's not funny and I come across as a dick.

So it's more of a documentary I guess.

EDIT: Oh crap, I forgot the MOST important part of the video. Please like, subscribe, and give me your money via Patreon, not for more videos, but maybe as an incentive to do less videos?!?!

It's clearly a joke. No one is ACTUALLY suggesting the port be removed.

I can't believe this has to be explained but they're pointing out how cautious people are with their cave PCB through the juxtaposition of sarcastic suggestions to use improper tools and techniques to make modifications. The video (which is also very funny) follows this same trend.

it's like if someone suggested you cut your hair using a lawnmower. it's funny because it paints a comical mental image of something no reasonable person would ever do.

I think @jepjepjep shares the same love of PCBs as we all do and most of us don't want people to damage or modify these rarer-every-day items. His heart was in the right place, but I think he missed my subtle humor and also I was piggy backing on another thread where I wanted to try and get $20k together and get that rare Cave game and give it to @rewrite so he could desolder the shit out of it and dump it, but even regulars on the A-P forums got upset at the suggestion.

Side note, if I ever win the lotto, I'm buying all the rarest shit, letting rewrite desolder the shit out of them and dumping them all online. I would even ask him to film it, b/c that's probably hard to watch for some people! If people are grateful, I may, may, even ask him solder the crap back on!

By the way @jepjepjep in some threads I made jokes about a Black Cock Fighting cab and also posted an Amazon picture of a dildo and some people also did not think I was funny, so no worries, you probably just have good taste in comedy! Again, no offense intended toward YOU and I hope I didn't leave a bad taste in your mouth regarding A-P, we're pretty cool here!(even @buffi with his is so called "real" PCB repair skills)

the metal plate of the connector is 30.9 mm x 12.6 mm, which covers the footprint. Thanks in advance!

Uploaded the new variations to makerworld, it should be pretty generous clearance, but none of my pcbs have a DSUB connector to do a test fit with. To be safe it would be worth chopping up the model in the slicer and just testing the spacing first before doing the full print.

Let me know how it goes :)

It still blows my mind people truly believe someone forked over that sort of money for that and at no point anyone in the chain of ownership has dumped the roms. Of course they're dumped. Are they available to the public: nope! But no one is sitting on a 20k ticking time bomb, and usually the private dump gets sold alongside the board so the new owner doesn't need to worry if it dies. Lets you know whose been around a minute in this scene and who is still effectively new or never paid any attention. I still stand by it wouldn't make me flinch to remove and replace those chips, but I also believe it's 100% unnecessary because they're already dumped.

I'm dying over the filming it bit, lol.
