DARKSOFT CPS III Bios and CD Releases

I think we'll never know until someone will RE specific chips.

it's also might be one of rare used or undocumented features, for example JTAG, Sega may want to change it, to make it not possible to debug / hack its devices using existing JTAG debug adapters.

SEGA's SH2s have "extras" for 3D graphics calculations
hmm, which kind of 3D extras may be in SH-2 without FPU?

KiCADs for the multibios helper board are attached, had some requests to share them - this doesn't currently work for me.
I dont know if my implementation is bad or if my manufacturing is bad. So use at your own risk :-)

But at least the physical layout is good :-)

Also some questions from @chacal231077 about SMD latching switches - which I actually cannot find any of... zillions of SMD momentary, but not many SMD latching... Anyone got a good source?

Hi! :)

yes, I tried this PCB and assembly.

But it doesn't work, I have black and white trash cubes on the screen X/

If someone can look at the PCB File to find out what is wrong & to be able to correct it :saint:

THANKS:thumbup:

Probably dumb question about flashing a new BIOS to the 29F400 on a FlashCat XPORT. When choosing a file to write in the FlashcatUSB software, it wants a .bin file. The BIOS images from the first page of this thread have a .u2 extension. Is there anything special I need to do to those BIOS images before flashing, or are they just binaries with a different extension that I can change to .bin?

I’m thinking this helper PCB may have been entirely superseded by the OSCR and the CPS3 adapter. Feels like a much simpler solution.
I’m going to assemble the OSCR CPS3 adapter and test it to see if it works as intended.

@BlinG - Here's the info you asked for on PM
this is cool! I Wish i got my ultrasim setup to work to try this out, maybe i need to get a repro cart so i can use this pallete mod stuff, i'm assuming you need to be able to flash the chips yourself to get this working?

I have a tornade cart with a standard sh-2 from a saturn, what cd release do i use? just the standard one? im using standard simms.

The simms are flashable, they will hold whatever you install from the right CD. The two different ones that are close to the cart slot who keep program data. What is written to these two simms are what differ from one cart type to other.
