DARKSOFT CPS1 Multi - Support thread

Just that one. It happens on the aje_fr multi too. I did a lot of reading back then about it. It’s got something to do with the way they programmed the title screens and most likely the limited equipment they tested on in-house at Capcom which did not reveal the issues.

I wonder if @Darksoft can patch a fix for the multi.

Kick harness question, are the two connectors on the "B" board for kick or just for players 2 & 3? Put another way, do we need a kick connector on the "C" board for SF2?

Fixed that for you and, its both!

If you are playing SF2, only the top connector is used for Player1/2 buttons 4, 5 & 6.
If you are playing a 3 or 4 player game both connectors are used (for all 3/4 player inputs).

As no 3/4 player fighting games exist, we don't need to worry about what would happen to the pinout if you booted one. ;)

That's what I thought, but it's not working for me... my supergun and wiring works on an original SF2 board set, but not on the multi. Any thoughts as to how to diagnose this? There are a bunch of different SF2 roms (too many frankly) so not sure if it's an issue with the ones I tried or not.

Edit: And it's due to player 1 using connector 2. All working.

What C-board are you using?

A de-modded one I had around. Everything's working now, just had to move to connector 2 from connector 1. Thinking I didn't see the input on connector 1 via the test screens because I'm lacking a ground for player 2.

Edit: And I'm an idiot. Both players kicks are through connector 2. Don't mind me, been a long day.

Yeah I have no idea, always just thought someone involved was Romani, whatever it is, it's cool lookin'

FYI: YouTube just took all of my videos offline, including the CPS1 Multi Tutorial video. I don't know why yet, but I've submitted their appeals form. In the meantime, if anyone needs the installation tutorial video for the CPS1, Namco System 1, Irem M72 or System 16 Multis, shoot me a PM.

Question: If you want to change the display name of the ROM on the LCD selector, you simply open 'NAME' file and make the edit and save the file, correct?

I'm going by what's in MAME which shows something kinda different to the manual (all were set to defaults by pressing enter on each item). The "Internal Diff. on Life Loss" isn't even mentioned there so I really don't know which one is correct:

Anyone with advanced knowledge of Strider or a picture of the JP instructions? Wouldn't be the first time a US manual had an error, but also MAME gets stuff wrong too, so I don't know which one to believe.

I’m more inclined to rely on the official manual.

The only thing I could think of is maybe they changed the factory settings for the B revision (music fix)?

Yep. And make sure there’s no line break in the text file after the game name.
Cool. I went through and prefixed the folder names with the region. Then prefixed the display names with the region. Now I can throw all the roms on a single microSD and navigate to them in the way that I want.

Its also important to keep in mind the screen is 16 characters long and can scroll completely one time (ie 32 characters total).
Upon displaying the 32nd character the screen will immediately return to displaying the currently selected game.

Aka don't use that 32nd character, you almost never see it displayed because it so quickly returns to current game.
Best titles are between 16 and 20 characters, either no scrolling period or scrolling just 4~5 positions.
