DARKSOFT CPS1 Multi - Support thread

After not having time to do any arcade stuff for a very long time I am finally putting together my cps1 multi. Having some issues with only a couple games working. Pulled the black foam like cover off my C board to find this. Seems a bot dodgy?

That C Board has been modded and doesn't allow.key injection. You need to undo the mod or get a new one without that patch.

Remove that cable and solder blob. I see there is a trace cut too that should be undone. Send pictures and check that Vcc and GND are not shortcutting before plugging it back again.

Not feeling wonderful about this solder cleanup I did.
You can do better than that pretty easily.

Do you have flux? I recommend the grease style as it's easy to work with.

Put the flux all over those pins where they are attached to the PCB and apply heat. Most of the solder will just straighten out on the pins.

If any clumps pins together just apply heat and drag away (towards the green).

If you need to remove some solder, use de-soldering braid w/flux. It's very easy to work with.

Edit: If there's hot glue on there remove it with 90% or greater isopropyl alcohol before doing any soldering.

That looks like a potentially lifted pad
Put it under magnification, it is def lifted. The one next to it might be broken. I prob did too much heat or pulled on wire too soon. Im good with soldering most things including small things but not small things close together. Need to find a new c-board or see if anyone else can fix.

I ended up having a spare hyper fighting C board 92631C-6, I modded it and sold it to @Coyo5050 .

Hi! I have just purchase a kit and assembled. I bought the "DSP16A Limited Edition" Anyone does know if there is significant differences with fpga qsound based board?

Another issue is that, in some games, I have some strange colors at the begining, in the ram boot letters. Ghouls Ghost has minor and strange grapichs at the boot too. Nothing else just that, the rest of the game works fine. Does it happens sometimes?

PD: First time I play on it and just have to say that surpasses everything I've seen so far...

Dsp16A is equivalent to the original q sound chip.
They are essentially identical.

There's not any real difference between it and the fpga but original tech is always a nice touch.

Fwiw I also went original Q sound/Dsp16a

The “glitches” at boot are normal. Happens with original boards too.

Hi everyone!
just got a Lucent Q-Sound kit, anything I should do? like program the q sound code/driver on the chip?

because I'm not getting any sound with any Q-Sound games (I'm loading crypted files I'm pretty sure(chose that set)), I did set sound to mono instead of q-sound in those games, turned both potentiometers all the way up, nothing but noise, I must be missing something quite simple😅

(sound works great with non qsound games)

(install was on a 12mhz dash jp sf2t mobo, swapped the PAL, swapped the c-board for a 926401c-1 that had continuity everywhere no cut traces, just removed the battery, check continuity for the 2 dupont wire solder too)

pressed the pcbs together on the joining connectors🤔

(unrelated but you guys confirmed there is no way to play SFZero because of the cps changer kickharness, right? no one was able to patch to something else I'm guessing?)

thank you guys for you help, what an incredible piece of kit!🤩
