@sfdx Correct, it is simply rerouting the pinout. Nothing special on the board.
I finally made a proper cable for my N64 controllers, and tested the carts I have. So far, the results are expected:
- Tower and Shaft, works via regular JAMMA controls
- Vivid Dolls, no error, but does not work via JAMMA controls
- Star Soldier, joystick error
None of the games worked with my N64 controller, but I have not yet made a second cable. I suspect some of the games may require both ports (P1 and P2) to be populated to work properly.
My Everdrive X7 not only boots, but every game I tested worked perfectly (N64 controller). This required having the CP1 port populated. I'll do further testing for 2P when I make another cable this evening. Games tested:
- Blast Corps
- Powerpuff Girls
- Mario 64
- Doom 64
- F-Zero
I only have one official N64 cart (Blast Corps, best game on the console and I'll die on this hill), and will test that later when I make another extension cable.
One issue I've noticed is that everything played on the Aleck 64 seems to be lower resolution than the same games on an N64 console. Any ideas here?
