Hello again everyone! After all this time My N2 did the beeping thing again 2 days ago and I decided to try it again today and It did it again. I recorded it this time cause I'm curious on what's exactly causing it, because I'm starting to think a ram stick or something is starting to go. It's weird cause everytime it does the beeping a quick turn off and on again will cause it to boot up again normally. But for somereason I noticed that the game runs slightly choppier than it's supposed to when I do this. Then if I boot it again after that it's back to normal again, very weird. But here's the video of the N2 beeping just incase someone is able to recognize what this beeping is supposed to mean:

Its ram

https://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm#award, the codes here should be accurate as when I had one with a literal burned out CPU I had the high/low alarm tone as described here

You want at least 1GB for the game to run smoothly, dont think single/dual channel matters however faster the better (It can take up to DDR1 400 but idk if it downclocks it to 333)?

Might be worth trying both RAM slots, old boards its not outside the realm of possibility one has a cracked joint

Pretty bummed out, was playing it last night and everything was working perfectly as expected then all the sudden I noticed the screen got much dimmer and for some reason the image started stretching and looked zoomed in, upon turning it off and Back on its still like that. so now it seems like my monitor is on its way out 😔. I don't really have any experience on fixing CRT's so alittle scared on potentially having to start touching it.

Haven't had much time to mess with this at all, ended up trying to run it again this night and the monitor wouldn't stay alive for one more race it went black and died halfway through the race, RIP.

Crazy how fast things escalated, went from working perfectly to just dying almost immediately. Wish I can take it to someone to look at it, but it's not easy moving that entire cabinet out of the house lol. I wanna figure out how to fix these things myself, just scared on zapping myself lol.

yeah - I also get very nervous about the big tubes and working around the chassis boards....

Hi all,

I've read through this entire thread and it was really helpful.

I recently picked up 2 WMMT3DX+ export cabs here in Australia, and I need some help if possible. I thought it would be worth replying to this thread rather than starting my own, but i'm happy to create a new one if preferred.

I'm having different issues with each cab.

Cab 1 is freezing during gameplay (and froze once during attract), seemingly randomly. I thought it was the RAM, so I swapped RAM from the other cab but the crashes still happen. Sometimes it's after 20 mins, sometimes a few hours. Motherboard looks like it has been recapped, so my next thought is that it's potentially overheating? I will look to repaste the GPU and CPU soon, but does anyone have any experience with freezing on N2?

Cab 2 was working perfect up until about a week ago. During the 'link' screen, the steering wheel test will fail. It moves the wheel to the left (sometimes it gets stuck left for a while) but fails to move to the right and then recentre. Error e20 steering wheel error occured appears after a minute or so. I have a video of the issue if it helps. I also noticed a 'I/O PCB error' after you calibrate the wheel in I/F Initialise in the test screen.

For Cab 2, any ideas on what to replace? Steering assy board?

Thanks guys.

I had that same issue with the steering and it was solved with a new pot. If the game detects erroneous pot values it'll give that error in the I/F Initialize test.

The alternate pot Namco used is TOCOS RV24YN-20S-B102. WAY cheaper than trying to source the original Matsushita.

Hey Trashedcabs,

Thanks so much for your reply. I've ordered two (one spare) and will update with how I go.

With Cab 1, I repasted the GPU (paste seemed fresh but was applied very poorly) but had another crash. I then checked the CPU and the paste was also extremely poor. I should've checked earlier, but for some reason my gut feeling was RAM/GPU. I haven't been able to test the cab for an extended period, but fingers crossed it's resolved now!

I have some other questions if you or anyone else is able to chime in:

1. Cleaning card - Previous owner was using a regular wmmt card to remove the 'cleaning card' message. I've done the same, but I manually clean the reader with isopropyl and a microfiber. Does anyone have a better solution? I've seen there are some credit card terminal cleaning cards online, anyone tried those?

2. The speakers on cab 2 cut out sometimes. Percussive maintenance on the speaker grill seems to fix it every time it occurs (quite frequently, say every 10-15 mins or so the left speaker seems to cut) I checked the connections at the rear of each speaker and they seem secure. Any suggestions for a replacement speaker?

3. It looks like Cab 2 was reset at some point, as it has very different ghost coin, battle star and TA records on the attract screen. Is it possible to force a sync so that the Cab 1 data propagates to Cab 2? Or are they meant to be independent?

Update: cab 1 has stopped freezing and I also fixed cab2.

A pulled apart the steering assy in preparation of the parts arriving and when I did, I noticed the potentiometer cable looked a bit loose… reseated, tested and working!!!

It’s mildly annoying that I haven’t been able to use the machine for about three weeks and I’ had already ordered the parts… but I’m so happy that both of my cabs are working now.

I have a strange issue happening right now on one of my WMMT3 systems - it just randomnly reboots and loses all of the settings - so freeplay, volume, etc. I changed the coin cell battery, and that didn't do anything. Will have to troubleshoot more.

Something similar happened to me aswell, one time upon booting it up it took alot longer to start the game on the Namco screen, it went through the scripts very slowly and when the game finally started I had to set it to free play again and the time attack scores got reset back to guest. Thankfully it hasn't happened since, although I still need to fix the monitor on my cab lol.

Having issues again. Still the Graphics Card.

Seeking a Graphics Card for WMMT3DX+ please, I’ve had one machine down for months now.

I bought the ASUS silent one that someone on wmexpressway said works and it actually boots the game, but something is wrong with the card. It displays fine for 30s then artifacts.

I messaged “Grahi” who was selling two on here, but no reply yet.

Thanks all.
