What's new

Name that connector: the thread

Looking for a datasheet for this Burndy 160 pin edge connector found on an Aleck64 mobo

I couldn't find any other markings. Looking to use specs (specifically pitch info, etc.) from the datasheet to make a new N64 cart adapter. The pins are too tiny to use a caliper for.

You should be able to get a fairly accurate spacing by counting, say, 20 or 30 pins, and measuring that distance. Divide by the total length to get the distance between pins. The more you count before measuring, the more accurate it'll be.

That looks a lot like a PCI* connector. I found several that look like it in photos, but I haven't found specifics yet. Maybe that'll help kick start your hunt.

I'm confused by the markings on the PCB though. I count 160 pins, which it references, but why does it say 82 on the other end? If you count the spacing, it'd be 82 per side - 164 total. So that 82 should be on the other side. Did they count the gap as one pin (which makes 82 accurate) or was it uncounted (which makes 160 accurate)???

This Samtec unit seems pretty close: https://www.samtec.com/products/htec8

You can configure it to be 80 per side and it splits by 32/48 as the Aleck one does. The diagram seems to indicate a larger spacing for the key, so you'd want to check your measurements.

Anyone know what connector model is used on Hyper NeoGeo64 Carts?

It's 300 pins and appears to have the Hirose (HRS) logo. Likely discontinued but I'd like to know what model it is to see if I can find some. :)

So I went to order some NH contacts from digikey today and of course they are back ordered. Does anyone have any experience with the following “recommended substitute”? JST H4P-SHF-AA and H5P-SHF-AA are the housing I am using.

SHF-001T-0.8BS was available on Mouser so I made my first purchase from there instead. I found and ordered a few of this part as well- "SHF-001GI-0.8BS". I'm not sure if it is the same contact provided in a different format or what. I'm happy to report back if anyone is interested. I don't recall seeing this part last time I ordered and since JST seems to always have backorders, I figured it couldn't hurt to buy a few and see.
