Nice work!

@tacobell what type of fans are you using on the heatsinks ?

Also which direction is it blowing ?
Noctua NF A4 5V, these are the same fans suggested for the silent mod. There’s a pin change you need to do to match the OEM wiring as well.

It’s pulling air away from the heatsink.

Thank you @tacobell !

So a Noctua NF-A4x10 and rewire according to the original NAOMI pinout?

What kind of screws did you use to secure the fan ? I would think the original screws are too short ?

The same screws it came with, but used them as posts and put the fan in between. The heatsink and screws keep the fan in place fairly well.

EDIT: Just switch the red and black placements and you’re good. Use a small flathead to remove the female pins from the sockets.

I believe it's more effective blowing down.

EDIT: https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/cpu-fan-direction.343047/#post-3175798

Makes sense to me. Admittedly, the heatsink in the Naomi is a stubby one, so not all of it applies.
I placed it the same as OEM. However I noticed lots of dust in these units already. If I was to suck in air, it might get worse. I’ll leave it as is for now, but I can see why you can invert it too. These video chips are super sensitive based off the MANY I had to repair by Ken. Whatever measures to make these cooler, I’m down for.

What adapter?

Use a dedicated cable to relieve pressure from the mini hdmi socket. Apparently causes issues with mini hdmi joints. My video was dropping because of that adapter, but only when lifting it and probably cause the hole I drilled was a bit bigger, which gave it more play. YMMV. Ended up using an adapter with a longer cable just to be safe.

That's used for testing my installs, people usually get their own once I give their boards back

FYI:
Came across this error when doing an install confirmation on the Sega Naomi 2.

CAUTION 53
CHANGE VIDEO OUTPUT OF THIS GAME TO THE SETTING CORRESPONDING TO HORIZONTAL SCANNING FREQUENCY 31kHz.

The output was 640x480i on the DCDIGITAL. The dipswitch one was set off.

I thought I cleared a bridge with these 3 pins at U1, which was pretty close to R.

I went and cleaned up the area again and it went back to 640x480p.

Came across this sort of greenish screen issue and ran the self test:

D and 0 had a yellow H

Wasn’t able to find anything on the official pixelfx site and couldn’t decipher the n64digital documentation (lazy to search really) but noticed these pins weren’t as aligned.

Had to do a drag solder and carefully pulled this section out. Resoldered individually and made sure the four right pins were aligned and that fixed the issue. Any details on this, @citrus3000psi?

Naomi 2 install for a friend from Texas, also took off the super cap since it was already leaking.

Just got my Naomi 2 back from Pink Skeleton. It's working great, except JVS input doesn't seem to do anything. I set everything up using the clunky web UI. I found this in the install instructions:
The DCDigital HW2 firmware must be controlled through CEC TV remote or wireless (via smart phone or pc). This is required to be able to change settings of the kit.
What a disappointment! Given that, what's the point of the DCDigital Settings -> Controller Mode setting being available when Console = Naomi? It looks like that's for enabling/disabling most of the hotkeys, but the hotkeys wouldn't be relevant on Naomi anyway if I understand correctly.

Oh, you gotta be kidding me... after I play for a while, the Wi-Fi setup wizard shows up over gameplay. Since it doesn't recognize input from JVS, I can't even dismiss it easily. Then after I do the wizard, it shows up again after a while. Does this mean it's failing to retrieve the Wi-Fi settings from flash? Or maybe because the Wi-Fi connection is poor? It's in a steel arcade cabinet in the garage, so the signal strength is awful. I'll hit up PixelFX support and hope I get a useful response.

Hope you can get it sorted out. Dan has always been great to me in the past when I've e-mailed him for support

Dan confirmed that it's due to Wi-Fi disconnects "or no maple bus controller is connected," and said they'll create an option not to display that message. Of course, there will still need to be a way to invoke the setup wizard if it disconnects, and hopefully it won't always reset Wi-Fi settings every time it loses a connection.

The Maple bus thing was interesting since I had the impression from docs that there's no controller input on Naomi, and a DC controller connected to Mitsurugi's Maple adapter didn't work for me. Maybe it's because I was using a Retrofighters controller.

in the game settings - you have to generally enable the controller (having just gone through this) and it seems like only on japanese variants - it didn't to seem to be supported on the US versions.
