I just got my Naomi2 setup on my Astro City cabs and I'm noticing that the color is kind of washed out and the whole image isn't as bright as I'd expect it to be. There's also some kind of weird sepia tone to the colors. It's running on 15khz mode and I am splitting the VGA signal via a cable so I can send 1 signal to the cab and capture the other signal via OSSC. I don't know if that's causing the video to be not as bright. I will try to play around with it and switch it to a single VGA cable to see if there are any differences to the video. Anyone else run into this issue?
If you want to see how the image looks over OBS, check out the stream here.

You can see later when I switch to CPS-2, its much brighter. I guess I can fix the brightness on the OSSC or OBS side but on the cab, I'd like the image to look less washed out at least.

You'll have to tell more about your setup. What monitor you have, what you're using to capture CPS2, etc.

Is the VGA splitter a simple Y cable? Those are awful.

The monitors are Nanao MS-28 I think. CPS2 image is coming directly from CPS via digiAV out (HDMI). I'm using a simple Y cable here.

Maybe this thing is a better solution? It is powered instead of passive. https://www.walmart.com/ip/1-PC-to-2-Monitor-2-Port-VGA-SVGA-Video-LCD-Splitter-Box-Adapter-for-PC-LCD-TV/774537797?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=101074534&adid=22222222222474437099&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=e&wl1=s&wl2=c&wl3=74904379140012&wl4=pla-4578503909261065&wl5=&wl6=&wl7=&wl10=Walmart&wl11=Online&wl12=774537797_10001093905&wl14=vga splitter&veh=sem&msclkid=d9bb9dcd79ec1cc1563ffff5a1b3d52c

I decided to order some powered signal splitters. I'll try it out and see if that addresses my issue. Seems like it should according to some of the reviews from other people who are in the same boat as me who need to duplicate signals for video streaming / recording.

How are you connecting the Naomi to a MS8 with a VGA cable?

Sega I/O is likely the culprit. I've seen a few with bad caps that produce a washed image. See what happens when you feed VGA signal directly into your display.

That was it. I spent this evening trouble shooting and narrowed it down to the Sega I/O. I can look to replacing the caps on it. I tried another I/O and the image was correct.

Might not be the caps on the I/O. But doesn't hurt to replace them. See if you can reflow some joints on the I/O too.

Well bad news to report. I replaced the 1 cap on the I/O. It’s the rev A I/O. And I think it fried my psu. The jamma is no longer working properly. I don’t know how that was even possible. It started smelling and I shut it down. Jamma still transfers image okay. But something is definitely wrong with it now. My cps2 board doesn’t work with it now. I should have just left it alone. Or maybe just ordered another Sega I/O.

You likely shorted +5V to ground. Time to take apart the PSU. If you're lucky you'll just have blown a fuse.

No fuses in the psu unfortunately. Just opened it up and it has a cracked transistor and a burnt out diode.
