Of course it will work! IF they added some new protection it would need to be emulated by that cart and that would take longer, but if it's a game using the same HW as any of the existing games, then it's trivial.

Definitely yes in two-player mode, but there's very little slowdown remaining in one-player mode. It's a great hack - greatly improves the overall enjoyment of the game.
