What's new

DARKSOFT New CPSIII Ultra Simms! 8 times the size of a regular SIMM

Highscoresaves had some until they are sold out.
Then no more.
ok, it looks like they're moving shops and wont be shipping any orders until after 3/31. so its a bit of a delay ordering to when u receive them. im cehcking out a setup tomorrow to see if they're worth it to me to buy. thanks for replying.

Would it be possible to buy a replacement for the small PCB with the DIP switches on it?

I witnessed these in action yesterday and my god is it frickin amazing. I already have a Darksoft CPS3 with the SCSI to SD adapter but who has time to sit there for 45 mins writing the game, on the other hand all I really play is 3rd strike so it's not really necessary... but god is it convenient but my god is it also expensive.

i need someone to play devils advocate telling me why i need it and someone to be the angel and say what you have is fine. lol

Here is why I would suggest getting it now - there are 6 available over at saveyourgames - and these are PROBABLY the last batch to be made (Darksoft said this) - so, if you EVER want it - get it now. Over time, the price will remain steady or go up on the used market, so you won't even really lose that much money! Think of it as a savings account :)

And - it really is quite cool - you said you really only play 3rd strike, but its probably because its such a PITA to switch games! I guarantee you will play a lot more of JoJo once you can just flip a switch and load the game.

And yep - its a lot of money, so don't spend it if you don't have it!

I think the only reason I play SF3rd Strike is mainly because of the load times. Seeing him flip some dips yesterday and reboot and bam a new game already loaded was awesome, and it was instant. I really liked that, and cps 3 like you said holds its value and will maintain so its possibly worth it.

If you’re not going to play Red Earth, the Jojos New Generation or Second Impact more than once a year, you might be better off just keeping your system stock.

3S is God tier.
thats the thing, i haven't played much cps3 because of the load times. red earth looks fun with the progress system. ugh decisions!

So I am still throwing this idea around in my head, but I was told i'd need to flash my cart with the ulti bios? but i read it needs an original board but i don't htink mines original, i've attached pics. @Darksoft would i need a new untouched cart or would this work?

can we commission someone to make an artistic dip switch sticker that we can put on our cases? Something along the lines of what DJsheep sells for our cartridges?

Hi all, wondering if anyone can help me diagnose what's wrong with my Ultra SIMM setup. I had to store my games for about a year or two, but before that it was working perfectly. Now it just stops at the "Now reading the CD-ROM. Please wait..." screen. The buttons are also unresponsive at this screen.
I have a SCSI2SD that I thought might have a bad ribbon cable, but I just replaced that with a new one and it didn't change anything. Not really sure where to start with this one.

Edit: It's been a while since I've done this, maybe the SCSI2SD is redundant in the setup? I unplugged it and it started to load 3S, but then was black after the game ID screen. I think I'm going to try re-flashing my SIMMs, maybe they lost their data after being unpowered for too long, or something.

Edit 2: I'm digging through old emails and DMs, I realized why I had the SCSI2SD in the mix. I had intended to swap to the NoCD BIOS, but mixed up my chips and installed the CD BIOS instead. So I need the SCSI2SD plugged in to at least boot, though I'm not sure why it behaved the way it did when I unplugged it. I'm also realizing now that maybe I just needed to re-seat the SIMMs, but I'm halfway done reflashing them so I may as well finish that.

Which cartridge do you have?
TBH I'm not 100% sure, I took poor notes back then and can't remember how all of this worked. I have these photos, I want to say this means it's a Standard SH2 (repro) because it says SH-2 on it? And the OEM Capcom ones are (confusingly) called Custom and don't say SH-2, do I have that right or am I backwards?

Edit: okay yes, I do remember that correctly. Phew!
