What's new

So whats next on the list of multis?

I spent a decent chunk of time searching around and couldn't find any articles or public statements or anything that implies Cave has ever sued anyone ever. The only legal action from them I could find any mention of is the C&D letter they sent for MAME, and only after that were people in forums talking up a storm about Cave's legal gusto.

Konami on the other hand... they have a track record of shutting things down and taking legal action. They shut down the fan made bemani networks, they've shut down more than a few torrent sites just because they were tracking an old Konami game. I believe they've even sent C&D letters to people making repo Konami artwork.

Video game sites love drama so when someone files a lawsuit against someone else in the gaming world, no matter how insignificant, it's covered all over the place. You'd think if Cave filed against someone it'd be easy information to find.

If I had to guess I'd say Cave is all bark and no bite.

They don't want to spend money on legal action that is likely to fail if challenged...
Opening them up to a countersuit for legal expenses when they do lose.

Legally they don't have a leg to stand on if no copyrighted code is used and they know this.
Custom chips would have to be reversed and likely recreated using verilog on a FPGA, but again this is perfectly legal to do (it's just super hard).

Source of info: I’m an international business major specifically studying Japanese to USA contracts.
Do you have a PACER account? could you look up to see if CAVE has actually brought suit against anyone or if this is all just baseless fear-mongering.
I have, checked and could not really find any using cave only as a search yielded too many results, over 5400, but adding a few variations like cave intercative, cave co. etc.. did not yield any results.
Keep in mind the original case documents would be in Japanese, and likely maintained in Japan. Searching the US court system for an international case started in another country won’t bring anything up. US cases that happen in the US alone can be hard enough. Usually only the judges opinion report is easily accessible.

In any case, what matters most is that Darksoft would have to take a risk. That decision is his to make. Me personally, I think Cave is supremely overrated so it won’t break my heart lol. I’ll take what he wants to give us : )

Sounds like doing a PGM multi vs a dedicated CAVE multi is the safe route, because then it might as well be a "PGM Developer Tool" with no indication that it is directly targeting CAVE titles.

aje_fr is member of this forum...

I guess that the main problem right now is that there isn't any new batch in the pipeline..

Aje_fr is even on this forum himself ;)
But if I understand correctly his multi is currently not in production, whether or not you are in France...

Has anyone here played this CPS1 multi?

Maybe it's not in production because there is a problem with it? Maybe that's the reason he hasn't released it yet. Maybe he can't get it working but wants everyone to think that it is...

I have no idea, just wondering.

:D

I have one copy. It's a nice piece. No loading time as it holds the games on big flashes. Problem.is it doesn't hold the whole library only several games. It comes with its own LCD and buttons. Very interesting...

So on the LCD you would pre-select certain games to load in the flash, and then you can select those games how?

you select Games with the LCD. Only he knows how to load them in the kit.

Ah ok, so it comes delivered with a certain amount of games preloaded.
Got a list of which ones and which ones are missing?

Out of curiosity, how did the old 14-in-1 CPS1 multiboard's hold up?

Maybe the other games don't work right?
