What's new
If I recall this same sound board is used on 1 other game; NBA Jam Extreme on the Sony ZN-1 platform

kind of interesting that they used PS1 based hardware for one game and Sega Saturn based hardware for the other :D

@Derick2k these JAMMA edge board you're making, you'll want to do a button remap on them too. For some stupid reason button 1 is mapped to 2, 2 is mapped to 3 and 3 is mapped to 4 :(

if you look at pages 23 and 24 of the manual they show that for batman "button A" is not used :-/

Yes, already accounted for that. I wish there was a way to fix the rom to relocate the buttons back to how they should have been. Just doesnt make sense that they did it that way.

I'm getting a bit of static in the sound effects, especially the voices like "power up" and end level bonuses.

I'm not using the amplified outs just the RCAs is that normal?

I did try playing around with cab volume vs game volume but it didn't seem to make much of a difference. I'm playing this in a viewlix and the cab currently is at maybe 1/3rd volume and the game volume in the test menu is at "250" which is lower than the default of 300 something. at this level it's overall pretty low. the music seems fine it's just the punches, explosions and especially the voices that are a problem.

After my post I did also try with some headphones directly on the RCA jacks and I still get the static in the sound effects. so I think that rules out the cab. other game work in this cab crystal clear too.

That's weird that music would be ok but not sound fx. Maybe a bad 27c160?

hmm, good idea. I'll check the chip speeds too. I've had more than one conversion with bad sound due to sound ROMs being too slow.

@twistedsymphony, @Mitsurugi-w has my real Batman cart and OEM sound board (or at least he will soon). He will be returning them to me when he can, would it help if he mailed them directly to you so you can test your setup with a real cart and a OEM sound PCB so that you can rule out other problems? I'm not in a rush to get them back and as long as you mail them to me when you're done I don't mind helping.

I think have a bad solder joint on my board. doing some more testing the sound suddenly went perfectly clear and flexing the board causes it go in an out of the static sounds.... and WOW the sound on this game really does pop when it's coming in clear!

I'll have to hunt around and see if I can figure out where the bad joint is.
